DIY is not the best way to do it, because the VATis still charged to you with no way of getting it back. The te fact you cannot get the certificates to allow you to sell the excess back to the power companies . I am able to do it myself but that 20% is a big dissuader along with the payback, although it might be possible that Octopus Energy might be playing ball very soon. However for a standalone off grid system I would do it myself.😊

Hi I’ve only payed VAT on the solar panels and in the long run DIY will definitely be the best way for me. Also I don’t need a certificate and could feed back to Octopus now but I choose not too as my aim it to be totally off grid one day and not have to rely on electricity companies full stop. 👍 cheers 😃

Nice job dude , I don’t admit to knowing squat about how to put an engine together but it’s extremely interesting seeing it happening and suddenly things start making sense! That gearbox was beyond me I’m afraid but looked really well done . We have a BMW with stop start it drives me nuts I always turn it off lol nice to see ya back fella 👍

Well brilliant, this vid was exactly what I was looking for to do mine, and you have explained it spot on especially the relay wiring.The only thing I can say is, will the 48v have enough power on a 240v immersion? If I’ve understood your system correctly.

The immersion is still being supplied with 240v, the 48v is just powering the relay switch and it’s the 48v that fluctuates then triggers the relay that has the 240v being switched through it. 👍 cheers

Hi, I have seen quite a few variations in these pumps, especially differences with the collar, some just have a washer and yes some with a slightly different star wheel, the key is to know if the pump has been modified in the past or not first before you start tweaking, and as we know most Landys have been messed with previously 😂

Been using them for a few years now mate and no problems so far, 5 of them are the 2nd generation ones with Bluetooth and I have one of the 1st generation that I’ve updated the firmware and is paired with 2 of the 2nd gen ones with no problem. I can pretty much leave them all to it, or if I want to quickly see cell details I can look on the LCD or more settings on my phone, can even see the none Bluetooth battery on my phone as it’s paired to 2 Bluetooth ones👌👍 cheers

My inverter’s can’t feed back to the grid, I purchased them as my goal is to eventually be totally off grid, but now Octopus do some good tariffs in the U.K. and no license is needed now to feed back to the grid on Octopus too 😂

Think the side skirts are Varis or TRD and the bonnet is Varis carbon fibre, the front bumper is a one off made from different bumpers and the rear end has been modified for Impreza lights 👍 cheers

Hi, it’s a Wellon UP990 and the chip is a 44 pin PLCC 27c1024 and a PLCC44 surface mount socket, I make my own maps. You can use other programmers but some of the cheaper ones often do bad writes to 27c and as they are only write once it corrupts the chip but you can use other chips. Cheers 👍

I’ve been told inlet ports are restrictive and see you’ve worked yours. I have the RE003 pushrods but found them too short? How did you get around this? PM if easier.

Hi mate, yea I purchased the block they had already been decked by 1.5mm so I had to turn down my liners to match. Yes I ported my head and removed the end of the valve guides for better glow. The RE003 push rods are the correct length for me as it’s decked 1.5mm but I did have to open up the holes in the head with die grinder as they catch otherwise. I think on your setup you may be able to deck your rocker shaft mounts by about 1mm for best fit with the RE003 push rods. I’m not sure what compression ratio is now but it’s a fair bit higher 👍 cheers

Think the side skirts are Varis or TRD and the bonnet is Varis carbon fibre, the front bumper is a one off made from different bumpers and the rear end has been modified for Impreza lights 👍 cheers

Hi, it’s a Wellon UP990 and the chip is a 44 pin PLCC 27c1024 and a PLCC44 surface mount socket, I make my own maps. You can use other programmers but some of the cheaper ones often do bad writes to 27c and as they are only write once it corrupts the chip but you can use other chips. Cheers 👍

I’ve found your other vids showing you machine the liners down (deck height?). I ran an MS2 Extra on my GTT but now prepping for Hillclimb in Australia. I’ve been told inlet ports are restrictive and see you’ve worked yours. I have the RE003 pushrods but found them too short? How did you get around this? PM if easier.
Hi mate, yea I purchased the block they had already been decked by 1.5mm so I had to turn down my liners to match. Yes I ported my head and removed the end of the valve guides for better glow. The RE003 push rods are the correct length for me as it’s decked 1.5mm but I did have to open up the holes in the head with die grinder as they catch otherwise. I think on your setup you may be able to deck your rocker shaft mounts by about 1mm for best fit with the RE003 push rods. I’m not sure what compression ratio is now but it’s a fair bit higher 👍 cheers
Briliant to see a true DIY solar instal. Have you had any comments from building control about the panels being too close or too hight to the ridge / edge of roof. I measured my garage and its a tight squeeze to get them all on.
