Very nice to see, I had these same units, bought them new back around 1974/75, the Tuner Lights were Lime Green as I recall, very sexy looking in the dark. Had them matched up with my Pioneer PL-12D turntable and some Sansui LM330 Speakers...

I purchased my first component stereo receiver in 1975, the Pioneer SX-434. Am very familiar with Pioneer's receiver models thru the years. This SX-450 is boss. All the basic controls needed for good sound and good specs to boot. In a small to average size room and driving efficient speakers this receiver can be quite satisfying. Always been amazed at the quality of these "little" receivers. Designing TOTL components is simple when cost is no object. Try designing high quality into bottom of the line gear. That these companies; Pioneer, Kenwood, Technics, Onkyo, Sony and Toshiba all built good models for the budget minded crowd (and at reasonable cost) is a credit to their design philosophy and longevity as many of these 40+ year old components still work today, fuhgeddaboudit.

@@anticipayo Bruh it's a stereo receiver with low distortion and good power output. I have a sx 550. Sounds just as good as any modern receiver or amplifier i've heard in the same price range. You simply don't know what you are talking about

Lmao, I bet you've never even heard a vintage piece of gear in real life. Just because something is newer doesn't mean it's better. Your logic is flawed. You understand that some of the TOTL amplifiers made today are based on the same principles this receiver was made with. Why do people with million dollars systems still play records from the 1950's? If vintage gear is so "crappy" why do so many people enjoy it? Why does it fetch high prices? It's okay to have an opinion, it's irrational to deem something bad because you don't agree with it.

@@iThoughtUHad2Bitch I am almost 50. This means I was unfortunately exposed to those crappy amplifiers. Rich people hearing records from the 50s? Rich people also drive crappy unreliable cars from the 50s. OR YOU NEVER HEARD OF GOOD OLD DUMB NOSTALGIA?

I had a Pioneer SX-450 in the early-to-mid 1980s, and it was stolen from me in 1985. It certainly was not serious Hi-Fi unit, but a reasonable, mid-line stereo. I would eventually "discover" Class A gear, (Krell,) and well, would soon find myself in a different "realm." I remember my old SX-450 with much fondness and would strongly recommend it to folks who have nostalgic tendencies. :)

Normally the Fatman has only line-in inputs. So you need a phono preamp in-between or a turntable with built in phono preamp. This owner has a preamp in between, look in the middle
