Less drunk in society, that’s a good thing
Another pub I used occasionally when my car was being serviced at a nearby garage. Very friendly staff. Shame it’s still closed.
I’d occasionally pop in on my way home from work in the early ‘90s. I think someone lost their life in there after being s tabb ed and not long after it closed. I liked the old boozers around the back of Digbeth, the Spotted Dog, Billy’s Bar, the Old Wharf, the Forge Tavern and the White Swan. All a bit rough and ready but they suited me.
Thank God! 😊
I lived at the Swan Yardley from 1950 to 1953. My grandmother was the licensee her daughter my mom head bar maid and my dad the manager. My grandmother was born at the Australian Bar in Herst Street and they eventually took over the pub from my great grandparents. They then moved to the Breedon Cross and then onto the Swan. Her brother in law had the Mermaid Pub at the same time. One of her sisters had the 3 Horse Shoes in Stirchley and another sister had the Gypsies Tent on the Hagley Road. Another uncle had the King George the Fifth on the Bristol Road. These are just a few of the pubs my family have managed.
Good news 🎉
Yeah its great new 128 years of history has been saved. lets hope the lad in the lane a 600 year old pub. Birmingham oldest pub in Erdington Birmingham can also be saved.

Shame all that history just gone like that .....
I was born and bred just up Adderley Road, in Arden Road. 1945. I passed the 3A's every day going to school. My dad and I drank in there for years. Before the name change there were large plate glass windows acid etched with the three A's. AAA. Symbol.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
@@joyfuladventureaudits If you follow our old pub crawl route, after 3A's along Adderley road a short walk to the Olive Branch. Continue up Adderley Road to the Denmark Inn on corner of Adderley Road and Landor St, then directly opposite to the Brittania Inn. then to home in Arden Rd. We'd sometime do it in reverse order as we lived in Arden Rd close to the Brit'. Then after 3A's walk down Adderley Road to Crawford St go to the Gas House, then along to the London Inn on the corner. Turn Right to Saltley Gate and have one in the Tilt Hammer. Then stagger over to the No. 8 bus stop, take bus to top of Arden Rd and wobble down the hill to home. This only happened on special occasions.
Great pub I remember it well I drank in it played pool meet great people another pub gone birmingham will not be the same now all the pubs are going it was great going down to your local pub with out getting buses or taxis love the old days 😢😢

I remember this place from when it was first built. Don't remember the mural. It must have been added at a later date.............I hope it's able to stay open.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
I am so sad😢 I used to go here in the nineties. My son went to it some years later. I did not even realise it was demolished until I looked it up on google a few years ago. Brings back memories.

More British culture going down the toilet
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
So utterly disrespectful and anti British. You can bet the administrative counsellor who allowed the sale to go forwards was a Muslim. The Muslims have far too many mosques in the UK as it is if that wasn't enough the Islamic continent is so huge England is just a small island. They have more than enough mosques than they could ever need.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
This is ashame eh, i used to drink in this pub before it closed down. It's amazing how the council will alow mosques to be built but never a church. Shows how this council favours muslims more than the christian people. It's probably to do with 'RACISM' . lol.

Back in the 70s used to pop in and have a pint ,when I worked at the m.e.m factory ,the gaffer was an awkward bloke and a lot of people wouldn't go in .
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Endless houses... with nothing for people to do but stay in them and stay glued to screens. What a dreadful loss. We are disposing of all the things that made us social creatures.
