The egg is “eggciting”. The guy doesn’t realize he said it that way.

The fried egg baffled me. It is amazing or the bowl of salad! It's intricate and modern. It was a great experience for me watching this video and the success and acknowledgement Tjalf has received. He has earned it. Thank you.

It’s honestly not that realistic. You can tell it’s a painting because it’s too glossy.

The lines in the lip of the glass salad bowl are, thankfully, nothing to do with Mark Rothko (who Francis Bacon once said of his work - the most hideous nonsense) & the contents of the dishwasher are not like a Mondrian, exclusively Dutch or 'a Holland thing'. Holland, Holland, Holland, did the critics say Holland enough in this documentary?!

A diligent, meticulous work. But what's the point of painting a picture to look like a photograph? Even Rembrand didn't really paint every inch exactly. If you look at his paintings up close, you can see that he used very loose and cleverly placed brushstrokes to achieve an effect that appears realistic from a distance. This is art, not an exact copy

He’s talented, but the works seem to lack a sharpness which holds them back for me. There are better hyper-realists, some of which are amateurs on Instagram. As much as I try to get behind HR, I’m more interested in and impressed by artists with an interpretative, painterly stroke. Hyper-realism lacks soul.

Idea. Fill an empty room with painted canvas cover walls as if it were a full room. Have an easel in room as though that is what people are coming to see. When it is really everything walls, ceiling ,floor, books, windows, dust bileaus, etc. a real room.❤ love your work.

Mega realism simply is not art, it's just drawing or painting something that a camera can also capture. Buy a camera, take a picture of an egg on a plate, take it to a printer and have it printer on a canvas then paint over it with the same colors. Again folks . . . NOT ART.

Great work, but would it be more challenging to do a painting from actual composition rather than relying to a photograph? The painting does not serve a purpose, because there is already a photograph. And it is relatively easy to copy an image to a canvas, than translate 3D space to a canvas.

These paintings, wile technically accomplished... are no more photorealistic than PLENTY of other artists working in the genre. The use of the word "mega" is just plain silly and serves no function other than to create unnecessary hype and views.

I normally get tired of the pissing contest of hyperrealism… but in these works, I understand how this is just a modality for expressing many ideas in a way that, ironically, is more subtle than what I normally gravitate towards.

Why bother painting something to make it look so real when you can just as well take a high resolution photo of it with a camera that takes a second to make? Such photorealism is boring and the subject matter is far worse. Who gives a royal fuck about a crushed soda can? Modern art is a disgrace.

Where are the sketches, studies? Oh no 🤦🏼‍♀️ it is all camera obscura! this is art? There is no freedom what so ever in the paint just techniek that everybody can learn. Soulless art, that is leaning on a photo ,no room for expression. Just a small group with to much money who will buy this.
