Siempre pensè:,daría algunos años de vida por tocar la batería como ese negro cabrón(lo de negro cabrón es por bién que toca el hijoputa).

Asronishing. So many incredibly talented people in this video. Trixie is amazing. Blade is amazing. Lanois know what is supposed to happen and is so into it. He's so connected with every element of the song. He's so connected with the main line of the truth of music. It's like he has an IV. Can I get that IV? I am blown away.

Seeing this video almost 13 years ago changed my view of what the electric guitar really was. The first time I saw it, I didn’t have the vocabulary to even describe how it made me feel. Music was my life, but this was a new experience for me. There was so much dark mystique in the chords and their voicings, and the fuzzy, pulsating swirl of the effects took me to a place much farther away from the room I was in. I probably watched this 150 times, trying to figure out what it was that teleported me so instantly to a strange, cosmic space. When I found this video, I was in the beginning stages of a really heavy situation. I would listen to it in headphones laying on my front lawn under the summer stars (looking like a lunatic I’m sure), and for 3 1/2 minutes, I felt ok. Earthly concerns seemed trivial and pointless (which they are btw) and that made me feel safe. And at about the 120th listen, I started to realize that, for me, instruments weren’t as much tools to make music as they were those to convey deep emotion. Those are the nights that birthed my respect for this medieval instrument, and my guitar became an extension of my heart. When that happened, I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to learn so many John Frusciante solos, and just let my guitar say the things I felt too scared to sometimes. This comment might seem like overkill to some, but I still listen to The Birth of Bellavista Nights multiple times a week. It was a formative milestone in my understanding of music and continues to be a beacon I aim my sails toward. I’ll always be indebted to Daniel and his mastery of emotional transparency through music without words. He is truly A sonic architect of the highest order.

Why is this not on Spotify. I still love it so much. Stumbled over it back then because I am a huge fan of Chris Whitley's Living With The Law album.

Great song... what is the large flat mystery instrument in the man's hand (Daniel Lanois?) on the left? I read about something like that before, but can't remember the name.
