Thank you so much for kindly sharing this video of Mesa's (spelling?) circling so others can learn from her and your experiences. Watching the video has made it easier for me to understand and come to terms with what could be in store for us with our gorgeous 14 year old dog who has recently started circling more and more frequently. So thank you for making it easier for me to know when to make the decision that nobody wants to have to make about their pet, but which is the kindest thing to do when their quality of life is compromised so badly.....

This happened with my French Bulldog the day we had to give her back to God. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor 9 days earlier, and had a major seizure the ER couldn't stop the night the repeated circles began. The day after the diagnosis, I noticed she favored the left when she made large turns in the kitchen, but the turns werent constant like in this video. The day she died, when the seizure began, these repeated circles began. I noticed earlier in the day a few twitches come and go, and she seemed to not connect with me emotionally when I tried to snuggle her. Also, in the days after diagnosis, she uncontrollably whined. The vet ruled out pain, and said it was a neurological "tick". It was sad. This whole situation was devastating and it progressed so fast. A month before she died, we thought she had arthritis because the xrays showed it. I had brought her to the vet initially because I had noticed her back legs were weak, and her leg slipped out from under her when she was running in the backyard. Shortly after her xrays, she got weaker and weaker in her hind end. Then she had her 1st seizure, so she was referred to a neurologist, who diagnosed her with a brain glioma. Watching her decline so rapidly was the worst thing. I never even had time to confirm her diagnosis with an MRI. Just so sad.

Aaw, poor girl. I'm sorry for this heartbreaking situation and anticipated loss. She is using a lot of glucose to continue so much activity, please don't wait to put her to sleep. Thank you for sharing your video and thinking of others at this sad time, it is very generous of you. My Chihuahua/Papillon mix is 12 and has been progressively showing strange personality changes. He is very fuzzy but I noticed today that he has very quickly become quite thin despite a good appetite. I'm a Retired RN and so the first thought I had was cancer. Today very suddenly during his usual bath and clipping he became hysterical, screaming barking and yelping for over an hour. The poor little guy has no teeth but he spent an hour repeatedly biting me between screams. The aggression is a huge change, he has never bitten me before! He isolates and has stopped barking at the door bell or his usual perceived intrusions. I think I will soon be facing sadness similar to yours. 🙏💐

My dog has been doing this for about one year I was under the impression it was ccd or dementia that’s what the vet told me. My chihuahua is just over 18 yrs old had him since he was born…actually I helped deliver him,….but he eats drinks so I keep him going…he’s not in pain and loves to be rocked in my arms but it’s a bit easier to do that being a tiny dog…I couldn’t do it with big dog. Sorry for your loss Thankyou for video.

My French bulldog was diagnosed with this condition, he is only 5 years old, at first he just had some tremors while sleeping and no vet could figure out what was happening, after a few months from day to night he started to have this compulsive rhythm like in the video, but without tipping over to one specific side, just doing the same route around the house over and over again and not sleeping at night. We did a CT scan and discovered his true condition, he continues to eat normally, drink water and relieve himself, and I can say that more than any anti-inflammatory, it really helped him get back to sleep and improve his compulsive walking (now slower and with some pauses with him sitting or doing something else) that's when we gave melatonin (human). The doctor said that nothing would help but this really helped, he is 15kg and we are giving him a dose of 30mg of melatonin per day, dividing 15 in the morning and 15 at night, I feel that his quality of life has improved a lot, he can actually sleep and is calmer, managing to get out of this state of compulsive walking more easily and having more autonomy.

We just had to put down our 15 year old Yorkie yesterday because her symptoms got so bad she made very tight circles that she would fall and continue to roll on the ground, I'm so broken hearted and watching her pass was incredibly painful I'm still in shock that this is really happened

I’m experiencing this with my dog he’s peeing all over the house and he spins in a circle for hours. I’ve done blood work on him and they don’t show any signs. He’s 16 years old. Idk what else to do. I’m not sure if I want to put him down. I feel like I’m giving up on him if I do that ☹️

I watched this video when I was at the Vet School waiting for a neurological consult on my 12 year old Chihuahua mix. He paced for hours a day. We tried him on a cocktail of drugs but I had to put him to sleep last week. They thought it was a brain tumor. 😢 it’s awful to watch them and be so helpless.

She could be my dogs sister just put a spot shaped like a piece of toast over her left eye and they would be freaky look alikes. Rascal has seizures and his blood work was as the vet but it that of a young dog and he is 12 .Its hard because we got his brother and sister back when the lady we gave them to died and the family was going to put them down if we didn't take them. His siblings were super fat covered in tumors and almost blind. They have improved greatly lost weight, shrunk tumors even somehow mostly cleared up thier eyes. I never ever thought Rascal would be looking like he would go first nobody even believes they are from the same birth. We get him almost back to himself and it happens again and it is like dog dementia. Its so hard because he is that one freaky smart dog. The one so smart people think its bs when you talk about him. He saved my sons life when a methhead tried to stab my son and steal his bike and there are a 1,000 more. It's just so hard. They thought he would need put down in October and couldn't believe he is still alive .But we know its coming just giving him the best of everything before its time.

Our dog is 4 she’s mostly boxer and was diagnosed with a brain tumor 5 months ago. Shes having seizures once every 2 weeks and has been doing well but she just had a violent one that lasted a minute. We are just waiting for something like this or where she keeps having seizures to call it. She will go back to being normal but her personality definitely changed. She can’t go for walks anymore. It sucks. It’s a waiting game. Chemo is bullshit cuz it just induces more radiation and causes damage and just costs too much so we just have her on meds.

Thank you for posting this. Our dachshund who is 15 + is diagnosed with canine dementia and just a few days ago were told may have a brain tumor growing. He will pace in clockwise and often is restless. We went to a neurologist and was told he only had about 5 months and may have strokes or seizures if we continue to have him around. It is about the quality of life.

My grandmpthers chihuahua is about 16 years old. He's lost a lot of weight and high steps woth his back legs and very shake hard to stand up and walks to the left like this multiple times a day but not compulsively like this. He also get stuck and lost in rooms and corners. No diagnosis bc she's broke and can't afford the vet but not sure it would do any good.

I know this was 4 years ago, but I am so sorry brother. She looks like she was the best girl. My chihuahua who is 13 years old just 3 weeks ago went from absolutely healthy and normal to me waking up at 7pm with her sleeping with me in the bed to her having a grand mal seizure. I completely broke down crying and freaking out and took her to the emergency vet. Her blood work was perfect and they gave me valium for onset of other seizures. I took her to the regular vet 3 days later after another seizure and they said she has a brain tumor. Within a couple weeks her vision completely went. She is totally blind now. I have her on anti seizure meds and so far for 3 weeks we havent had another seizure, however her motor functions are severely impaired compared to how she used to be. She gets around the house, but bumps into things because of the blindness, and she will list to one side and wobble when she walks sometimes. I have a followup november 8th with her vet. As long as shes still up walking around and eating and drinking good and snacking im going to keep her with me. When it gets to the point her quality of life isnt there anymore im going to make the hardest decision of my life and have her put to sleep. She will be with my mom and dad again up in heaven.

I have experienced that with my 5 year old English bulldog. It has been absolutely horrific to see him go through. They never did diagnose him as all tests came back normal. They suggested to go to Saskatoon as there was a teaching veterinary hispital. Or, go to Ontario or the US. This has been one of the hardest emotional situation, I'm still crying, grieving and depressed. After spending $3,000.00 on my chunky in a week and a half, finally decided to end his pain. I'm devastated, missing him like crazy. God bless anyone and their fur friends that are going this.

Just saw this. I was told same at same age..,Wait!!!!! My dog did this and realized stress caused it. He was feeding on my stress. Two years later he is fine. He actually bumped walls and thought he blind. Thank goodness I gave him benefit. He is almost 15 now. He had an ear problem which made him circle.

We bought a Labrador he is just 5 months old now. He had the same symptoms, 1) circles clockwise for about 5-6 hours. 2) Does not eat or drink food during this time. 3)Drools a lot during this time. 4) Confused - walks on his potty and sometimes hits objects in its circle path. We showed him to several vets who confirmed there is no cure. After watching your video i am just speachless. Please advise me any good vet i am ready to do whatsoevrr is possible. He is just 5 months old boy. Please help

Thanks for sharing. That’s where we’re at. Our 17 yr old chihuahua is blind and deaf and we have to keep him locked up in kitchen with tile because he goes poop and pee everywhere. He does do the waking in circle thing also. Vet says he has baseball size cancer tumor in his stomach. We don’t know when to put him to sleep. We’re praying God with take him in his sleep peacefully. He still enjoys eating his food. It’s a joy to see him enjoying that. He’s sleeping alot more and longer now. I hope the decision doesn’t come down to us. If he gets to bad we’ll have to put him to rest.

In short, with the NITRO UNIVERSAL DRIVE SHAFT as the attachment and the KURTSAW saw blade I could run that for about 20 to 30 minutes straight. It took approximately 2 to 3 physical wk hours combined to do the entire property. 8hrs total or so with incremented charging between being 45 minutes or so, It charges pretty quickly in about an hour or less. I just took a few sessions, to keep going at it and eventually I was able to clear all of the brush. Probably would recommend 4 of the saw blades to be sharp enough to run through it. The ampage on the greenworks pro battery isn't very high so I didn't expect it to run much longer than 20 to 30 considering what it was cutting. As a trimmer it runs pretty long. As a brush cutter with a saw blade going through two to three inch saplings It's 20 minutes or so run time.
