I like to share the ‘wealth’ of the education I received because many don’t have the desire/ability to take on the financial risk or the mental strain of higher education. And I want to share what I learned for free because it shouldn’t cost money anyway in my opinion

Just started on the video and I want to commend you on telling your story with self diagnosis. It saddens me that you feel ashamed when I think this is a story I've heard (and experienced) many many times. I think a lot of folks can get so desperate in trying to find a label for their disability that they forget about treating their symptoms. On the flip side, internet culture absolutely teaches us that we can never ever be wrong about anything or else we're irredeemably malicious Personally, I have self diagnosed and been wrong. I've also self diagnosed and have been 100% correct. In both circumstances, my research gave me a voice in being able to advocate for myself and gave medical professionals a place to start looking. When I didn't have access to doctors, the coping strategies taught by the communities I was self diagnosing myself in were helpful and life saving. In the end I think it's about finding a healthy balance.

i think your point about james being a sort of bad representative for the queer community is missing some of the point. as queer people we know that bigots are going to hate and discredit us - that’s never going to change and, while there’s always going to be queer people like james who harm the community, it’s not his fault that queerphobes are queerphobic. they’re going to find any excuse anyway, i don’t see a point in blaming james for that specifically. i think that’s why most queer people focus on the inter-community damage this does. stealing from other queer creators erodes the solidarity we’ve built within the community, and a lot of the time that’s all we have.

this isn’t to say your video isn’t great! i think it can be hard for non-queer people to fully grasp the problems with his behaviour, because they don’t have as much of the historical context and emotional investment in mind.

Personally I tend to believe people when they self-diagnose, especially if they are AFAB and/or POC, because these groups are very, very often dismissed by healthcare professionals. I'm not saying self-diagnosis is good or that the people self-diagnosing are always correct, just that believing people is my "default setting".

i just wanna say on the part of self dx, as someone who is self dx autistic and adhd, again yes, a lot of people including myself will self dx when availability to drs is not present but 'going to see an expert' doesn't always mean ur going to get an 'expert' that even knows or cares what they're doing and will actually diagnose someone with the correct disorder. as an afab person, it's next to impossible to get a doctor that will do their job and not just call u hysterical, delusional, depressed, anxious, overweight, pregnant etcetc. (seeing a doctor is an EXTREMELY STRESSFUL situation even if were and affordable availability bc i'm tired of being medically gaslit) i feel more comfortable observing myself and my behaviors compared to my family members and peers that HAVE been diagnosed and feeling confident my behaviors align with that. i do agree that more complex mental disorders should only be self speculated (as anyone might do with any illness they might have, i don't see as much push back to people saying they have a thyroid issues or whatever as i do people trying to figure out how to navigate their lives with mental disorders that they can't get officially diagnosed and medicated for) and actually observed and diagnosed by a professional, reason why i only say i have speculated of borderline personality disorder bc i think it's too complex for me to self diagnose as but i'm tired of people trying to invalidate something i've been searching for an answer for since i was 15 years old to finally have some sort of answer to, bc a doctor didn't sit down and say this is what i have. i'm also a bit afraid to even BE formally diagnosed as autistic since the world has such a misconstrued interpretation of what an autistic person looks like and potentially have it used against me as if i haven't had to exist as a fully functioning adult for nearly half my life.

I don’t think it’s right to shame the whole true crime community based on why KZreadr I feel like u lack a lot of knowledge to report on this tbh. I never liked Eleanor and the videos I watch off her is kinda over dramatised. And come on but u really didn’t just say that fkn gossip it’s something more important like true crime if it done in the right way it’s a way to learn about events and special for my it’s the psychology behind these people it’s way more beneficial than learn about how my chromosomes Jake Paul have

The just move thing is stupid too because trust me most tourist based areas dont pay the artist and workers very much at the places that draw them in. Like New York wouldn't have the same draw without Broadway, the museums and the shopping. So the people conplaining are the ones creating the atmosphere airbnb leeches off of.

Hotels have to follow legal guidlines and you have some way to follow up if they act sketchy. Airbnb has none of that and is sketchy as fuck. I'm not staying in someone's home unless I either have no choice or know them(maybe if it's through a friend).

I was 21. At the time, I worked at my university's gym. I had just gotten off work, sat in my car and opened KZread to put on a video for background noise during the drive home. At the top of my feed was Bye Sister and I think it had only been up for less than an hour. I listened to it in shock the whole drive home and then restarted it over once I was in my bedroom to actually watch it. I had only been watching Tati for a few months at that point. I had no knowledge of drama channels until that point.

i used to watch dissociaDID a lot back in their beginning, and i remember them posting a video addressing having littles and basically explained they werent going to discuss anything about the littles they have because of creeps online and because it’s no one’s business basically, and for all the years i watched them they stuck to that. so the claim that they fetishize those alters on livestreams sounds fishy to me.. maybe they just switched to a little and they didn’t turn off the livestream because they’re yk… a kid? idk i need video proof for that. another thing that shouldn’t be misrepresented is the patreon tiers, the 300$ tier is literally called “don’t choose this you get nothing”, which might have been cropped out in the videos you watched. it’s a joke tier for those who wish to help financially. you indeed get pretty much the same things as those who pay 50$ except maybe some personal recognition/updates and whatnot. also, pounds are almost double the canadian dollar, so 50$ is just 25-30£, which is relatively still a lot, but i can imagine that from their pov it’s not that bad. i’d also like to say that while i don’t think they used to play up their behaviour for the camera, they definitely do now. i don’t believe that they’re faking it, but the way they used to be on the camera felt a lot more real and honest back in 2018-2019 than how they portray the system nowadays (like that whole thing about one of the alters wanting to say something at the end of the video…) it’s an easy trap to fall into as a content creator, and it doesn’t help their case against the criticism. i find that they’ve proven to be very unstable over the years (alters merging and changing names, projects being started and never finished, months of radio silence, etc) and they seem to lack self-awareness about their behaviour. i also think the way they engage with the internet is self-destructive, but it’s how they make money, and they can’t keep down a job and are (in their words) in constant legal battles with an abuser who keeps coming back into their life. i don’t want to justify their problematic behaviour with their illness, but if i put myself in their shoes i can imagine how difficult and confusing social media would be to naviguate.. their maturity when it comes to interactions and criticism is lacks for an adult in their 20s, but with all of those issues taken into account i think some emotional stunting is to be expected. anyways, that’s all i had to say lol

James is a good example of Tall Poppy Syndrome. He did well, elevated to a group of equally comparable successful colleagues, and he got too big for his britches. His colleagues, older and having put in years of work, decided to right-size him. You can do better than me, but not faster than me, and not without crediting me for helping you. You can’t advertise any hair gummies other than mine, even though your reasoning was to preserve your safety. (Allegedly. Lol) A slice of humble pie as big as the Empire State Building, right? I’m not defending James Charles. At All. But I am disgusted by Tati and Jeffrey and Shane’s little revenge bitch-fit. Just say you’re jealous and go.

As, like you, someone trained in English lit and language teaching, people really need to understand that citation is very very good and useful! (And not that hard.) Also, the fact that something is "like a decade old" (??????) is not the point he thinks it is. If you quote Hamlet you're still supposed to cite Shakespeare, even though Willy isn't gonna find out.

i was on the beauty guru chatter subreddit when this was going on, mods would create a new mega thread like every couple hours 😭 and he supposed to do the event in Australia, so people were checking the mall location on snap/ig to see if people who are waiting in the queue are aware of what's going on online 😭 also fun fact some people were convinced jamis chaneo was wanting to pursue pop career. and used makeup as gateway to becoming known as back then men wearing makeup was getting tons of clicks. like manny was never exceptional at makeup, he was just a conventionally attractive guy with stubble and full face of makeup, that was the selling point really. it's hard to describe how different it was back then. james charles was also very strategic in his collabs whatnot. he was latching onto people and trends like a tick
