Your soldering is Fine. And you’re using a reasonable tip size.

Okay so i know they wanted it to be rigid, but imagine it spinning very slowly, that would really make it come alive

Really getting Red Green Show Vibes (Canadian comedy show) from this video. I feel like this is what would have happened if he also had access to a laser.

God knows I have no clue what I’m talking about when I say “wouldn’t it look better if you reinforced the larger loops with smaller loops and even smaller loops inside those?” Again saying it out loud I can see why not it would be soooooooo much work but still I have to ask 😅

Enjoyed the PhotoShop clips and the time that went into them. I think you made them shorter for time but it made me want to figure out isolating backgrounds better. Curious how you did it. Watching tutorials now.

It helps if the spool is centered over the attachment point. Otherwise, not much you can do, really.

You may want to tig a threaded boss onto the aluminum tubing where you have your alignment bolts. It is VERY easy to pull threads when taping pipe. Aluminum pipe easily quadruples that risk.

Would like to see more about the LED side of it and their control, also the decision about using LED with wide spacing when the current trend it is towards hiding an LED strings "dotty" nature etc I work on the control mechanism of few myself, i remember one that used compact fluorescents that have put so much light the neighbours complained and another that (unintentionally) over would drop a glass baubles onto the marble floor below with an impressive crashing sound.

If you start with a longer piece than you need you can cut off the ends instead of manually twisting them. Both methods work!

You could use the in situ tape mask idea while etching the glass, then use a dishwasher safe enamel paint to end up with a more uniform colour for your markings. You bake enamel paints in the oven to fully cure, so to avoid cracking the glass, you might also have to be careful not to heat or cool it too quickly.

3:22 I felt that in my bones. I've had so many times where something breaks loose and comes way too close for comfort. (And a few that did hit, unfortunately.)

3:53 I've also had way too many times like that where I do a bunch of work to salvage something or save the little money but reusing, only to end up either not being able to and having to get/make a new one or get frustrated and say this is stupid and make/get a new one because I'm fed up. And either situation I'm MORE frustrated that I didn't/haven't learned when to cut my losses and when it would be wiser to just get/make a new one than waste the time.

17:54 😂 I'm glad I'm not the only one who does weird or kinda pointless things only because of a 'I wonder..." And then once attempted, realize while the curiosity was still useful and good, the resulting 'knowledge' is kinda never gonna be used. Lol. I'm nust gonna start using that line from now on. "Well, I am now in possession of thay knowledge" 😂

Labeling with icons instead of words is actually a whole movement in public signage. It's the reason exit signs in USA are just "EXIT" while the rest of the world use pictograms of a person fleeing thru a door.

before painting any lasered parts you might want to take time to clean off the burn marks that remain in the kerf, that nasty residue won't let anything stick to it!

Hi nerd! Wesley, a couple of weeks ago I watched you being interviewed, forget the guys name, and I wanted to let you know that I happen to appreciate hearing your thoughts on stuff, even the reorganizing of the loft. I have a lot of the same thoughts on stuff and it's nice to know that it's not just me. So, glad you got more comfortable in front of the camera (you are braver than I).
