Garrett Weaver

Dedicated to becoming better than yesterday, I shoot everyday to prepare for bow hunting elk. A couple of my greatest passions meet once a year in September. I believe when opportunity and preparedness meet success will occur. Success looks like a punched tag, meat hanging at camp, or a great photo of an unforgettable hunting trip. I want to share my journey and experiences with those who share the same passion. I hope you're in! Thanks for watching!

    IMO, the single best thing for a strong blood trail is to have the arrow shaft remain in the wound channel keeping it open from the chest cavity through to the outside. An animal isnt a balloon full of blood. There's multiple layers of moving flesh that easily plug a hole once the animal gets moving.

  • @garrettweaver6605
    @garrettweaver66057 ай бұрын

    I’ve also seen time and time again though the shaft prevent blood from exiting the wound channel, and when it break off or comes out the blood is free to come out as well.

  • @joerarey8496
    @joerarey84967 ай бұрын

    @@garrettweaver6605 you've seen a shaft within a wound channel plug the hole? That doesnt make sense. The hole is over an inch wide, the shaft is a fraction of that. Remaining in the wound channel keeps the wound channel open from the entrance to to exit. Without it, the wound is easily closed with the hide, muslce layers etc.

  • @garrettweaver6605
    @garrettweaver66057 ай бұрын

    @@joerarey8496 there’s been plenty of times where arrows break off and blood trials immediately improve. It’s not uncommon. That’s been my experience and a lot of other folks I’ve heard from as well with stories of blood trails.

    Hey Garrett, GREAT video! I am shooting an HHA Tetra max currently. BUT, in attempt to get to build a setup to allow a pin for say 125 yards or more with the sight, I need to get a pin REAL close to the top of the bubble in order for my arrow to clear the bottom of the housing. (this is with my current peep height/anchor point, arrow weight, poundage, draw cycle, etc all included). I prefer the vertical pin setups. How low will the triple stack allow that short pin to go? Can you get it to horizon the bubble level? If not, I will have to stick with horizontal pins and slide one down to horizon the bubble. THANK YOU!!

    Thank you for the walk through. I am not surprised by the bleeder blade version getting a bit less penetration and twist. Those bleeders have to be influencing those factors. The Ashby testing shows 4 blade penetration is not as good. Bleeders aren't quite the same as strict 4 blade, but it is something to slow that twist.

    Please can you make a video going over in detail how to set the peep up to 60 yards before you ever even dial in the sight and select a sight tape. I’m a little confused. Ok. I figured it out on my own . So the deal is this. Set you peep up for 20 yards. In the case of my 3 pin fast Eddie. 20-30-40. Now roll the top pin down to 60 using the big BULL KNOB, the. Center peep for a 60 yard shot and you car now more balanced for 20-120 yard shots

    @@garrettweaver6605 Thanks. The pin gaps looked good; and with your information I realize I would probably need to use a 3 pin sight. Formerly I shot about 410 grain arrows. Now I use 537 grains and up; and my draw length is short. My pin gaps would be huge compared to the ones you had shown in in this video. I use a single pin slider; and I’d like to revert to fixed pins.
