    I’d give Manny a shot against Barrios and Connor Ben. If Manny could pull it off, then I can definitely see them trying to match him up with Tank for a catchweight fight of 144 lbs.

    Looks like the guy's playing my guitar - ebony, cream gear, chrome tombstone tuners, P90s, "Made in USA", etc. I'm told they were built between 76-82, but the ser. no. on mine starts with 99, so that makes it 1975? I'm thinking of selling it, but wherever I look the values are all over the shop, from disappointing to mouth watering. Any ideas? PS: if this thing's paintwork is nitro, how can you touch it up if you can't get that paint any more?

    This is my guitar. It's been living in Scotland for the past few months and will never leave. It sounds and plays better than anything else I've owned. Love it. I did swap out the black plastics for cream (with Amber knobs) for a nicer look. Killer guitar and funny to stumble on it in KZread.

    I have a set of Ron Ellis in a Strat and a Telecaster and love them. I've had many handwound pickups from many makers and Ron Ellis wins, best I've ever had.

    Great tone. We should all realize the meaninglessness of comparison. I only play my favorite melodies with my favorite guitar with my favorite sound, that's why I play the guitar.

    Thanks, really nice demo. The Ron Ellis pickups sound great but struggling to assess "how much" improvement they provide. So, one suggestion... it would be helpful to see a comparison with the stock pickups as a reference point.

  • @watchtowerguitars5102
    @watchtowerguitars51024 ай бұрын

    We've thought about that for a future video. Maybe a before and after with a trip to our shop to have the Ellis pickups installed. Doing 4 guitars clean & dirty this time we were already hitting the 30 minute mark. Thanks for the suggestion.

    From experience I can tell you that the Ron Ellis pickups took my masterbuilt strat from great to amazing, and I'll never change them. I have the Ron Ellis 57's in a 57 reissue (maple neck and ash body) and they are so addicting to play. Bell-like and warm without ever sounding harsh. Experiencing them in person is much different than hearing online. Hopefully this helps! Cheers

    @@jheat4 Thanks, I definitely put stock in testimonials. Over the past few years I've made an effort to upgrade my electric guitar signal chain for recording purposes. Ironically, the component I've largely ignored so far... the actual guitars. The guitar I'm considering for 64S pickups is a basic 2016 Fender Stratocaster Professional.

    You're welcome. It's funny, I am the opposite in that I change pickups until I find the right fit. I was a little skeptical because of the price at first, but now I feel they're definitely worth it. @@matthewmcclure3181

    Sounds really nice. Guitar sound is mostly the speaker and amp, and those are great amps, and sweet sounding speakers. I believe RE uses a combo of AV & AIII poles so the plain strings sound warmer. It's generaly a good choice, but he wasn't the first to do it, and I don't see what about his pickups justifies the cost.

  • @watchtowerguitars5102
    @watchtowerguitars51024 ай бұрын

    Thanks. We're trying to reproduce what we're hearing in the room. The mics are a combo of the Royer 121 and good old SM57. We also have a nice ribbon mic for the room. The mix is probably 60% Royer, 20% SM57 and 20% Room mic. Speaker cab was a Two Rock 1x12 with their 12-65 by WGS. Cost is one of those things that can always be debated. It really boils down to customer satisfaction and I'll say this about being dealer for RE customer's have been very happy with the results. We're lucky to be able to try them out in the shop and see which ones fit our personal style.

    I agree with you 100%! My 1984 Ibanez Roadstar can get the prettiest tones coming thru a nice amp with a great set of speakers... and the pickups on that guitar are an every day, off-the-shelf brand. Nothing special about it -- except the beautiful sound it makes when I play it!

    These pickups are ALIVE !!! Organic, musical, articulate, seemingly ringing forever! If you're in the NY/NJ area, get into your car and drive to Watchtower Guitars in Morristown, NJ. They arguably have more incredible guitars and amps per square foot than any other shop in the area, including some very famous ones in Manhattan. Their walls are literally filled with some of the most jaw-dropping instruments, ranging from the tried-and-true to some of the best boutiques you can lay your hands on.

    I owned a Kalamazoo Epiphone Riviera, but it was a very dark, almost a blackburst. The F holes weren’t cut though, just the top, and bound and the wood was painted black, factory done. It had a Bigsby, full size humbuckers, no serial # on the headstock, Kluson tuners. I took off the Bigsby, and installed a Washburn Wonderbar, and it played fantastic! Judging by the knobs, and the nut width, it’s a ‘65-‘67....Jim Foote, my guitar tech, said it was either custom made, or an employee made guitar. Gruhn got it in ‘02 for 2 grand...🙄

    I have exactly the same guitar. It's a real beast. Good for studioworks. Unique and awesome sound. Dont know exactly which pick ups these have. It's a very thick and heavy body... not interesting for live gigs... I can hold it 3 songs.... standing before it starts to hurt... but a real awesome guitar... a keeper for me.
