Priceless. When psyche emerges powerfully but in conscious view -(and not unconsciously , as with, say Hitler’s Germany etc)- as it did with Jung, it leaves a chink to the bigger world-that lasts. I am breathless every time I look at him carving. Because I know what was happening there

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:56 🕵️ *Freud believed in the Oedipal myth, a failed hero's story where a man becomes too close to his mother, leading to problems. Jung, however, championed the successful hero's story, emphasizing triumph over challenges.* 03:32 🌟 *The successful hero's story, exemplified in fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty, involves overcoming challenges, escaping confinement, and awakening the slumbering feminine, symbolizing personal growth and positive relationships.* 06:41 🧠 *Jordan Peterson supports Jung's view, asserting that clinical work involves awakening the hero myth in individuals, enabling them to confront chaos, triumph, and establish positive male-female relationships.* 09:39 📚 *Jung's split with Freud centered on the Eedipal myth versus the hero myth. Jung's "Symbols of Transformation" emphasized the validity of religious viewpoints and the hero's journey, setting the stage for his break with Freud.* 16:23 🧠 *Jung's visionary thinking, influenced by a family history of visionaries, allowed him to see patterns across thousands of years. Mystical experience is very much context reated. There is like years of suffering leading to such real experience. Drugs produces some reactions in the brain that is all what that is. No different than alcohol. You will never hear these drugs guru's say how alcohol changed their life. It is because they are clueless.

But this mythological stories are just stories of different individuals and if they are so old this is just a nature of a man, like there are those red asses with that monkeys in animal kingdom. And it isnt something you can change or fix. Its ok to be warned about it, conscious about it, but we can't avoid it. And I dont know anyone that would change to a better in a span of a year, when he was working on himself and visiting a shrink. Miraculous can happen just couple of times in your life and you won't recreate it. But to know this stories, it's calming you down.

not just nietzsche and freud.. the classics were a huge determinant, guiding Jung deeper and deeper into his theories of the collective unconscious and the importance of myths... im learning that the more you read the original texts i.e. the canon- the more i realise peterson simplifies his talks for a less literate crowd but also regularly tries to squeeze big and complex ideas into his frame of reference (which can actually be quite dogmatic!)... very unlike Jung

All I can say to anyone who is serious about exploring the questions posed here is: read Rudolf Steiner. Steiner was a clairvoyant who endeavored to make a scientific exploration of psychic/mystical experiences, basically trying to put a name to things experienced by shamans, and gurus (among others) and make them accessible to the Western rational mind. I'd recommend starting with Theosophy, then try to tackle Esoteric Science. Not easy reading but worth the effort in my opinion. I think Jordan Peterson would find his work highly enlightening and inspiring.
