I just happened on this video via the algo's. I have just one question: what's up with that brown shmoo on your right index-finger. Looks like stains of a heavy smoker, but after a while it was gone in the video.
@Crewboy1711 күн бұрын
Almost certainly fountain pen ink based on his other content. Clips were likely shot at different times giving the stain time to wash off (or to get stained in the first place, depending on the timing of the clips).
@FountainPenSounds10 күн бұрын
Non smoker, I'm not sure what it came off of honestly. A crusty pen / ink bottle is my guess but I also do 3d printing, tie dye in that area and know I had to shuffle some things around before/during filming. I attempted the intro a few different times. So this take was 3rd or 4th after flubbing it pretty bad. I typically record between 3 and 7 AM this one ran long was on a second day for attempts. So it was either push it to a third day or roll with it, as I didn't have time to reshoot and then edit that day.
@PeetSneekes10 күн бұрын
@@FountainPenSounds Ah, alright man. That explains it. Appreciate it. Thanks! What did you think about the quality of the machining of the pen? The clip seemed a bit rough compared to the other parts.
@FountainPenSounds10 күн бұрын
@@PeetSneekes the pen feels good threads, finish on the barrel mechanism to extend / retract. The clip is super basic but usable where some fountain pens might have a cast/machined clip that looks better but is significantly less usable because it's rigid Twisbi Swipe comes to mind as a fairly useless clip. But I can see how a spring steel clip is a bit "cheapening" if you look at lamy's Safari wire clip vs Jinhao's 559 spring steel clip it's a similar effect. But as someone that regularly uses the clip I'd rather it work than just look nice if it was one or the other.
@FountainPenSounds10 күн бұрын
It's made from screwdriver parts to me the spring steel clip is fitting as a pocket clip on a pen light or precision screwdriver a tech might have, probably has a very similar clip. The level of detail on the "LTT" on the bolt is what I think throws it off a bit. If it were plain I think the pen would look more cohesive but had they put their logo somewhere else I think it may have looked tacky.
@Tom_Samad11 күн бұрын
Definitely much more affordable than other bolt action pens made by more well-known pen makers.
@FountainPenSounds11 күн бұрын
It is a very competitive price, I wonder if outside of the Ltt fan base if there may be more stigma to it being "youtuber merch". Not that they seemed to have any issues moving them solely on an announcement during their weekly liveshow. So outside opinions may not really matter.

My "pensnobbery" started back in high school with the Pilot G2. Fountain pens didn't come until much later in my life. A nice pen can make a huge difference if you also have difficulty writing for extended periods of time. So even if it isn't this one you should get a nice pen if you write any amount more than a bare minimum.

When it comes to fountain pen info he literally wrote the book. www.richardspens.com/ref/gloss/B.htm#butterfly_nib/ And at least off that description and illustration it is not what I am attempting to showcase in this video.

I'm not certain I understand what you are referring to but will take my best guess. If you are referring to flex writing where the nib (the part that touches the page and writes) spreads apart to write wider lines. This requires a pen designed to do this. But extra pressure is used typically on the down strokes of each letter to spread the tines open slightly. Modern flex nibs can be found on the Nooders pens, Fountain pen revolution's pens if you select the flex nib options as well as Osprey's Phosflex nib. Likely a few among others but these are the ones I have experienced. Doing this with a standard nib can and will likely cause damage to the nib causing it to stay spread apart preventing ink from flowing so please keep this in mind.

You can use pva glue (the white craft glue, Elmer's glue etc) to bind a larger stack of papers. Just line up the edge you want to bind, clamp together and paint on the glue.
