I also like to tell people to NOT just allow their head to "bobble" around so their helmet doesnt keep smacking into mine. Being a passenger on a bike is A LOT different than in a car, BOTH the driver and the passenger have to be mindful of what they are doing.
He looks a little like Andrew Tate
I just got this helmet after years of riding with a legal skull cap.
awesome video. thanks
Thanks for the review. Can you make a voice activated call (“hey siri’ type). If so, how does it work?
I love Arai because their goal was never to be the best or the most comfortable helmet, but their goal is to be the safest helmet, that's it and now I'm sold😂
Great video, still have to press the black arrow tab while you get brass pin to red dot. That’s key
How tall n your weight pls
I am 5'6" at 150 pounds sir. In the video I was a bit more heavier as I have lost some weight.
@@caferacernewyorkcity thank you Brother I m 5.7 n 82 kg I think I chose SM size....or M size
that helmet appears to be big for you?
It may seem that way, but keep in mind that it is also a broken in helmet that I have worn for many years. Even at it's age ... almost 5 years ... it still meets my requirements.
What about Hedon
Do the sizing and shape feel similar to XD-4?
It seems a little more snug ... but honestly barely. Still going to be intermediate oval.
what's the riding jacket in this vid?
It is by REV'IT called the WESTPORT RIDING SHIRT. Unfortunately they do not make it anymore. You can find it every now and then from a third party seller. Otherwise, check out Rev'it's store. Here is a link: amzn.to/4d89zFW
Do you have ig?
I do! It's Caferacernewyorkcity Wow ... thanks for reaching out to that!!!
I've been riding with the Arai Contour-x for 4 weeks now after a gruelling search for my new lid, so I'll give you all the highs and lows... Highs: 1) This thing is SOO unbelievably comfortable. It's like pushing your head into a velvet condom. (And that's a good thing!) 2) It's light. Real light. The reviews say the weight is on the higher side, but I find it remarkably light. Almost AGV light. 3) The ventilation is crazy good. You live in a hot climate? This thing is going to keep you cool. 4) My glasses go in with ease and sit on my nose. In fact, easier than any other AGV, Shoei or Shark helmet I've worn in the past. 5) It's got a smaller footprint than my old GT-Air... no bobblehead effect in a size XL. 6) It is beautiful. The Arai craftsmanship is stunning. I got the Face graphic, and I find myself just staring at the thing. 🙂 Lows: 1) Hot dang, it's expensive! The most money I have ever spent on a lid, but I keep them a long time so that's life. 2) WITH ALL THE VENTS OPEN, there is a lot of wind noise. But you see, ventilation requires moving air. Moving air is not quiet. When you close the two small top vents, it quiets down considerably. If you want a silent lid, go with the Shoei GT-Air 2 or 3. 3) The visor mechanism takes some getting used to. I have an old Arai Vector-2, so I'm used to it. Not a deal-breaker. 4) No photochromic shield available as of writing this. It's okay, I own sunglasses. ------------- Regrets: Zero Wallet: Hurting
Dude .... I LOVE THIS! So in response : 1) This thing is SOO unbelievably comfortable. It's like pushing your head into a velvet condom. (And that's a good thing!) YUP ... THE MOST COMFORTABLE HELMET I HAVE EVER WORN! 2) It's light. Real light. The reviews say the weight is on the higher side, but I find it remarkably light. Almost AGV light. TOTALLY AGREE ... ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO OLDER ARAI DESIGNS 3) The ventilation is crazy good. You live in a hot climate? This thing is going to keep you cool. AGAIN ... GREAT OBSERVATION ... ARAI IS KNOWN FOR IT'S AIRFLOW 4) My glasses go in with ease and sit on my nose. In fact, easier than any other AGV, Shoei or Shark helmet I've worn in the past. YES SIR ... THE WAY THE CHEEKPAD AND HEADLINER IS DESIGNED ALLOW FOR EASY USE OF GLASSES 5) It's got a smaller footprint than my old GT-Air... no bobblehead effect in a size XL. THAT ROUND EGG HEAD SHAPE IS IDEAL, I ALSO LIKE THE SHAPE FOR MY RETRO LOOK 6) It is beautiful. The Arai craftsmanship is stunning. I got the Face graphic, and I find myself just staring at the thing. 🙂. YEAH THE ARTISTS THEY COMMISSION FOR THE DESIGNS ARE TOP NOTCH. Lows: 1) Hot dang, it's expensive! The most money I have ever spent on a lid, but I keep them a long time so that's life. IT IS PRICEY, BUT THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF YOU CAN TELL WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING 2) WITH ALL THE VENTS OPEN, there is a lot of wind noise. But you see, ventilation requires moving air. Moving air is not quiet. When you close the two small top vents, it quiets down considerably. If you want a silent lid, go with the Shoei GT-Air 2 or 3. AGREE ... ITS GIVE AND TAKE RIGHT? SHOEI'S ARE QUIETER, BUT NOT AS WELL VENTILATED 3) The visor mechanism takes some getting used to. I have an old Arai Vector- 2, so I'm used to it. Not a deal-breaker.YEAH, I LIKE TO THINK OF OPENING UP THE LID IS PUSHING AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. 4) No photochromic shield available as of writing this. It's okay, I own sunglasses. YEAH UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO PHOTOCHROMATIC OPTION FOR ANY ARAI HELMETS BUT I FOUND THIS ONLINE: "Some say that Arai helmets don't offer photochromic shields because they don't want to compromise the accuracy of their factory shields for latching. However, there are third-party photochromic shields available for Arai helmets, such as the VAS-V MAX Vision Photochromic Shield Visor. These shields can adapt to changing light conditions by automatically adjusting their tint level based on the surrounding light. For example, in bright sunlight, the visor darkens to protect against glare and UV rays, while at night it's completely clear. Other benefits of photochromic shields include reducing eye strain and enhancing contrast" ------------- Regrets: Zero. YES Wallet: Hurting HAHAHAHAHA!
@@caferacernewyorkcity loved your review AND thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment. Keep up the great work. Truly entertaining! 😊
Genius doesnt even tell us what gear to put the bike in... Not all of us are expert riders. Some of us are complete newbs. 🤦🏻♂️
Great point! I wish I could place every detail, but I figured if you already know how to ride you would know to place it in neutral ... but I hear what you are saying and you have a valid perspective!
Can you use this for an upright naked bike like Diavel or mt-09
Although the helmet was designed for riders in a full tuck position, it does not mean it will not work for anyone in a upright position. You will still get the same venting, you just may not be getting to the full effects of the spoiler in the rear.
You forgot the most important thing…the pipe! Also, what’s the best tobacco to smoke for the DGR?
Hahaha! You are right!!!! The guy on the logo even has a pipe! Best tobacco ... hmmm....GREAT question. I really do not know ... but maybe this video below will help. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5epr9KhiZTge9o.html

Crazy time. Thanks for sharing Mel.
It sure was! I still remember when I was wondering when we are not going to wear masks anymore. It was weird that those times were the new norm. Having a motorcycle was definitely a lifeline both literally and mentally. Were you here in NYC during that time?
Yo! U reckon that biltwell logo can be easily scratched off?
So I checked out the logo on the Biltwell Gringo SV ... and ... well the logo is actually under the gloss finish. So unfortunately you can't peel it off. I say just get some stickers to cover it!
Hi Mel, thanks for the fitting and advise you offer my daughter Mikaela! Hope we will meet again either regarding a purchase or just another quick chat. Michael.
Of course Michael! Anytime ... I am here for any questions you may have. Come back anytime.
A lot more expensive, but my Bell Star DLX has been my favorite helmet, by far. Yes, it’s like $500, but it’s a very safe helmet, isn’t too loud, is comfortable, and has a UV reactive tinting visor, so I can ride day or night without changing visors. That’s by far my favorite feature.
You are absolutely right! The BELL STAR DLX is a great choice and a you get a-lot for that price point. I have tested one out and agree. I mean the simple fact you get a photo chromatic shield as part of the purchase is huge! The shoei photo chromatic shields start at $200! Thanks for the comment.
@@caferacernewyorkcity I haven’t looked, but do you know if Bell is still selling it? Mine is coming up on 5 years old, so it’s time to replace it soon.

You're video's are amazing! Glad I found the channel
That means alot ... I am glad you are WATCHING!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Hold the front brake also
Brilliant ... you are RIGHT! For my next vid, I will go over those details! Amazing!
I saw a post and I thought it came with a tinted 2nd drop shield
You know what ... the original FORCITE helmet did have a internal sun shield. Unfortunately, the new ones do not.
Meanwhile, the safety and corners dads are fist fighting on the other end 🤣
.... THAT is freaking hilarious sir .... I need to make a video that better shows it visually! OMG ... I am crying ...
no concept ex?
So far it is not available in the United States, but as soon as I get my hands on one I will do a review.
@@caferacernewyorkcity oh wow, also called Neo Rapide in Japan 😀
Solid video
Thank you so much! So happy you enjoy the video!
What. Bike is that?
its my Ducati Scrambler Nightshift 2021
My dad used to take me on his bike when i was like 8-12 y/o and even i knew to lean with him. Just stay aligned and youre fine
Your Dad is a wise man! Yup simple instructions leads to great success! Thanks so much for the comment and support!
Good vids and good tips. Cheers.
Wow! Thank you so much for your comments and support. I really try to give honest info!
Where’s a good place to shop for motorcycle gear in NYC? I’m just getting started and want to be able to try things on in person.
The place I work...I know...late response since I already met you! What a pleasure! Thanks for coming by the shop! Let me know if you have any more questions!
@@caferacernewyorkcity Pleasure meeting you, I'll be back for that helmet!
I wore british ww2 army dispatch rider battle dress with a british army leather Jerkin over the top. The breaches make it look like a ww1 uniform. I was riding my 1940 BSA WM20 which is a 500cc side valve british army bike. The heavy wool uniform is quite protective. My helmet is a pudding bowl lid painted to match a steel dispatch rider helmet but is a modern fiberglass lid.
That sounds AMAZING! I have always loved the military look and with a vintage 1940 BSA?!!!! How SWEET! Hey I get the helmet....the look is also a factor!
Can I use an Arai helmet from Europe that is only ECE?
Technically if you are in the U.S. it needs to have a DOT sticker on the back. Although ECE is high in terms of approval ratings in regards to safety you are required to have a DOT/ECE helmet to ride legally.
DGR requirements summary. Late model Bonneville. Late model 350 or 500 Royal Enfield. Some quirky Italian banger. Guzzi or Duke. BMW guy on his daily round the world tourer dressed like he's going to Antarctica. Clip on handlebars so you lay horizontal on your fuel tank with your fat belly getting in the way. Many modified Jap multies or 70s 185s. $2000 brat style Chinese 150s. Overly tight clothing. Floodpants 4 inches above shoe heels exposing 3 inches of bare leg above socks. Pointy formal shoes. Girls riding in high heels on pink or red bikes so they dont get mistaken for lesbians. Stick on mustaches. Deer stalker hats. Pipes with no tobacco 'cause that is uncool to smoke. That fuckin' duck paddling at anything under 30 mph. Overweight, even for a Harley, girlfriend who insists on going despite the weight restrictions on some bridges on the ride. Really old people who cant get on or off their bikes without the help of 3 strangers. Old shitheap bikes that wont start when rally sets off. Over officious ride marshalls who treat all riders as lesser humans.. which they mostly are. Ilove it, go every year. Ask me what I ride.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
shoei is also good
Yup ... I wish the Retro Shoei (The Glamour) was available here in the U.S. ... I have held and seen one and it looks sweet!
Just bought a Contour-X (Podium), waiting for it to arrive. Also, own a XD4 (love it), and a Corsair-X (love it). I'm an Arai boi. Best helmets available. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Good choice! And I totally agree ... with helmets you really do get what you pay for.
Can it change visors?
Yup you sure can!
Advertisement in the guise of charity
I really wish it was advertisement as I don't make anything for talking about these products. I am not even monetized yet, but I do appreciate you looking out for people. I just really do believe in keeping people as safe as possible with the knowledge I have.
I went to the DGR first time and was the only guy who fell from 125cc motorbike while dressed like a million bucks 😂😂😂 Lucking, nothing happened, few broken plastics, me, bike and suit is ok. There is actually a youtube short, i just uploaded on my channel here
I was thinking " this is a nice classy vid to check out...but it's just a productplacement...
Man I wish it was product placement! That would be awesome!!! But I am not even monetized and I don't get any money for mentioning these items. I just believe in these products and really care about people's safety.
Oh shoot that sucks man! I hope you got things fixed up man. I need to check out your video sir!
If you were out for a long ride/commute would you go with it or your Arai? Comfort, airflow and fogging... Personally I use custom earplugs which make a massive difference - both in terms of music/directions to my ears as well as blocking wind noise.
Actually although the Forcite is a great helmet, the Arai is definitely better for the things you listed - Comfort, airflow and fogging. Now if I wanted to do recording and needed the convenience of just charging one helmet ... then I would do the Forcite helmet.
Bellissimoto had it on sale and picked it up for under $700. Just got it but I am questioning why the US version is not ECE rated. The Australian version is. I’m assuming it’s just as safe and they didn’t have the US version tested but I’d feel more secure if it was ECE rated.
Did you have to make the audio louder in post ?
Great question! I did in general for the whole video because I usually want to make sure things sound clear. But even before post, it was actually good. I did consider using an additional mic in the helmet, but wanted to give the actual sound of the helmet quality of the forcite.
Arai needs to really step up there safety features. DOT and Snell don’t cut it anymore especial at the price they’re charging.
I would agree, ECE 22.06 is considered one of the best rating systems, but ARAI has started making helmets to those standards. For example the QUANTIC is ECE 22.06, but is not available in USA as of now.
@@caferacernewyorkcity Arai’s in-house standard has always exceeded DOT(not hard) and Snell. When ECE really stepped up their game, Arai was already up to snuff. They didn’t change anything major when ECE released 22.05 let alone 22.06, or when the FIM homologation came into play. The only changes Arai does to there helmets between markets is that the head shapes of the Asian market is suited to their shapes. Everyone else gets the same head shapes globally, and all are built to the same standard.
I'm in New York city like every day. Anyway you could measure me personally I have a lil peanut head and I can't find a good helmet.
OF COURSE!!!! email me at the following to let me know when you plan to come in! [email protected]
Strongly considering a motorcycle just for the parking.
It is SOOO much easier! You live in NYC?
@caferacernewyorkcity Haha I'm reading the drivers manual right now.
You forgot to mention how quiet wind noise is.
Yikes! You are right! It is fairly quiet. My biggest test is when I am on the highway.
I was trying on the Arai Regent-X in a medium and it felt perfect & snug. When I would push it in towards my face though at the bottom, it would touch my chin. Is this a cause for concern? It seems though with any helmet it will touch my chin no matter what.
Honestly ... I have seen that a few times ... even with my Defiant-X. Ideally your forehead should be preventing the helmet from going any further when you pull down. You may want to try a Signet-X which will give you more room in the front of your mouth. That way you could see if your forehead is stopping the helmet rather than your chin.
