Love having my Beeline as I discussed with Peter, found I can plan router on Google Maps and transfer file to Beeline app rather than having to put in coordinates of all the wayponts. Not without errors when the 2 systems disagree on what is a permitted road to drive. Been watching footage of last week’s rideouts from Matlock of small bikes (mainly Cubs & Monkeys). Some rode the abandoned road, also a number did Tissington Ford Didn’t know the story of the tragedy but I remember a friend who had a hobby caving taking me down one in winter 75/76 which was only 16 years from then. All I remember is it was close to Castleton & you entered where water flowed in. Speaking of Think Floyd I saw them play at Chesterfield and they were excellent [another edit] my first ride of 4 on 25 May visits both ends of abandoned road and finishes in Edale

Good morning and thanks for watching again. Yes, it's the minimalist nature of the Beeline that appeals to me - I still use the Tomtom from time to time as I'm still comparing them for efficiency pros & cons etc.... Your coverage of the wee bikes is both entertaining and thought provoking, I collected a C90 a couple of days ago, but sadly it was for a mate. 🤦

Hi Ian, thanks for watching but I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to recording routes etc, but the easiest way to describe this route is to take the A6 north out of Buxton, and turn right for Batham Gate and Small Dale, into Peak Forest. Straight over at the lights and on to Perryfoot, turn right and follow to Mam Tor. Backtrack to turn left down Winnats Pass and into Castleton. The extra bit into Edale is around the side of Mam Tor for the spectacular descent. I hope that helps. 👍

Really enjoyed that - another bimble in my back yard. Glad the knee is improving. These vids with the stories are so inspiring and I will get over that way again soon…l been to the station cafe a couple of times, never stop in Castleton but I do like the roads around and always seem to end up at the Yonderman. Mine ticked over 19000 today on a run back from Derby via Farley and Cotton…. Roads I think you’ve already covered. Congrats on the 900 well deserved.

Yes, we're well blessed locally for watering holes, but for me some of them are just a tad too close. Thanks again anyway Nev. Cheers.

Great to have you back out riding Martin and many congratulations on your 900 subs. Your stories are always so interesting. Wonderful ride with so much to enjoy. Exactly like you I enjoy planning my rides (sort of 🤣) using OS maps and now I use the Beeline as a 'helpful hint' - for which it seems to be very useful so far. You've got the video and audio just right now I think. But such a sad story about that young lad. What must have gone through his head, trying to move his foot up to the rung and there not being enough space. This has been such a wonderful ride, Martin. Thank you so much. Best wishes, Peter

Morning Peter and thanks for watching again. I think I'm past it when it comes to relying entirely on the technology, having spent so many decades using paper maps and road-books, so yes helpful hints is a great use for the Beeline. On the subject of your moving to a monthly schedule, I can fully understand your reasoning - I've tried occasionally to get a video out per week, which I've found to be demanding at times, and taking away something from the enjoyment, which is my prime reason for getting involved in this in the first place. Thanks again anyway Peter, cheers.

In a world of bigger, better, faster the 411 is unique and a breath of fresh air in my opinion. The beauty of the 411 is it forces you to slow down, take in the surroundings, breathe, realx and enjoy exploring. It is easy to work on and some simple and cheapish upgrades greatly improves the 411. I think you find the tractability on the 411 much better once under load. The long stroke means more torque at lower rpm and the sherpa needs some more rpm. The new bike should have been called the Sherpa and the himalayan shoukd have got some improvements with 10 extra hp and a 6th gear and the we would have had a fantastic bike.

Interesting again Martin. I don’t like football either, in fact I’ll be in the bath when the match is on tomorrow. Sorry to hear about your knee, hope it gets better soon. ⚽️🛀

Hi Stephen and thanks for watching again. Yes, in the four years before starting the tour work with Shearings I worked for a local coach/bus operator, and the so-called highlight of my week was taking the local supporters to Old Trafford for Manchester United home matches, and that just about put the tin hat on it for me! (something I'd never go back to) My knee's improving steadily now Stephen, thanks for asking. 👍

Glad you said, "East Riding", my bank letters still insist on calling it, "North Humberside" - a place which does not formally exist. Hope you get well soon.

Afternoon Steve, yes since Matt moved across there I've learnt a lot about the political boundaries and the way they've changed over the years. East Riding it is, and so should it remain! Cheers and thanks for watching again. 👍

Gotta say I'm with you regarding football. Yep, I enjoy the emptier roads too when there is football match on. Good to see Daisy getting an outing Martin. You've been busy researching again. Luv the historic articles, please keep them coming and thank you for such an enjoyable video. Hope your knee is feeling better real soon. Mind how you go fella and ride safe

Afternoon Neil, and it's good to know that there's others who feel the same way about the blessed game! Yes, I'm making good use of Daisy while it's behaving itself, but I'm worried that Blizzard might be feeling left out. The research thing is a leftover from my coach touring experience, and it's a sort of second nature now. Knee's improving steadily thanks, and I'm hoping to get back in action soon. 🤞 Thanks again Dave, and stay safe yourself, cheers. 👍

Just to add ,,, regarding the River banks,,the sea level may have dropped ,but those banks are still needed because every 20/30 years there is whats called a surge ,maybe its an extra high Spring tide coupled with a storm surge, and before you know it the sea is lapping just outside Ottringham.... My old home at Ryehill the sea use to lap at the bottom of the hill(back in 1800s) ,,look on google where Ryehill is compared to the river..

Cor Martin you,v done your research on my home town Withernsea,, and Sunk island.. I believe all Sunk Island is still owned by the Crown,,we use to do high speed runs there back in the 70s (65 top whack from a Starfire) You mention Cherry cobb sands.Well my 1st home was in Ryehill and one Christmas about 1963 my Mum and Dad took me and bro and Sis to a Carol service in a Nissan hut there on a freezing night as I remember it was pretty bleak...If you think there are alot of old war buildings now.. At the end of the 60s they were all over the shop and great for kids to explore Spurn Point was just amazing and bloody dangerous... oh I could tell some stories.....cheers

Hello again and thanks for watching. Yes I always try and do my research, but obviously on this occasion not enough to pick up the fact that there's a Crown property out there. We enjoy spending time across there exploring, although we've yet to get to Spurn Point. It's also good to read that Fort Paull will hopefully be re-opening. Thanks again anyway, cheers. 👍

Hello Martin. I'm with you on football. I've always lived by the sea and can't imagine living more than a few miles of it but you benefit from beautiful inland villages where you are.. Just back from staying in an hotel on Llandudno seafront where there was a bath to have to climb into for a shower. What a palaver. Very awkward. Hope your injury repairs itself soon. Great little ride and imparting your knowledge of an area I'm unfamiliar with . Many thanks, Martin

Good afternoon Peter, yes I know my lack of interest in the blessed game won't suit everyone, but it's the way I am. It really didn't help when I first started driving coaches, that the highlight of my week was transporting members of the local supporters club to Old Trafford for Manchester United home matches! Well now, regarding my clumsiness getting out of the bath, we now have a nice new anti-slip bathmat, so hopefully no repeat occurrences. 🤞 I'm glad you found this little bit of The East Riding interesting - it's not really my sort of surroundings, but fascinating all the same. Thanks again Peter. 👍

So sorry to hear about your knee, Martin. I am in my 6th month in after twisted my knee in January on the ice. 2 doctors /knee mechanics/ and 1 repair in /surgery a month ago/ and still cannot fully open/extend my knee/leg. But i'm riding my scooter around and trying to train on the bicycle.. Thinking of buying a cruiser to be low with the perfect bend for my leg to be super comfortable. Have my eye on old Yamaha Virago 535 on the local 2nd hand market .. Otherwise I had my trigger on the new CF moto 450 MT, the bike that seams to be the unicorn people wanted for years and years but not with that disabled leg on mine. The KLE is a 500, Martin.. There is a 400 version for you know what reason. There is not a 650 version, the 650 is called Versys and it's more road orientated adventure bike.

    @martintraffordmoorlandbike7121Ай бұрын

Morning Stefan, yes what is it with these knees - a constant source of problems as we get older (and clumsier!). I've been giving serious thought to scooter in the not too distant future, mainly as a way of staying on two wheels. 🤔 Yes I really should've known that the KLE was a 500, and it doesn't surprise me that there was a 400 too. It was the 650KLR that I was thinking about. My oldest son Nick just sold his 650 Versys, which although it's a good bike just didn't really fit the bill for me. Yes, the CF Moto 450 - I can't help being a bit envious of Rest Day Rider having got her hands on one before I've even been invited for my test ride. Time will tell if it's the elusive Unicorn! Thanks again Stefan - always good to read your comments. 👍

Enjoyed that, a part of the world I have visited due to the other half coming from Hull or as they say Ull. There are some nice places around arnt there, fish and chips on the edge of the Humber at Paull was always something I enjoyed, watching the ferry come out of the docks and passing by. All the best and look forward to seeing future content as ever, cheers Nige.

Hey up Nige, I'm glad you connected with this one as there aren't so many people who know much about the area. When I worked at the Yorkshire interchange for Shearings Holidays I used to smile at the announcers sometimes ' will all passengers for 'Eckmondwyke, 'Alifax, 'Uddersfield and 'Ebden Bridge please go to bay.......' It is indeed a fascinating area around Thorngumbald and Paull. We often sit outside The 'Umber Tavern watching the ferry go out - which I fully intend using next summer with the bike. Thanks for watching again, cheers. 👍
