I love SM, but I find the main problem with them being the harmonic overtones for individual notes. Essentially, the lack of any noise except bow noise and lack of ability to tweak individual notes' harmonics. Obviously this is easily fixed by scripting a plugin, but it's just something I wish SM implemented internally considering they already implemented overall harmonic balance control.

I prefer the sound of the SM plugin. Audiomodeling sounds a bit too much like an electric violin with an IR on top to me.

I agree that the sample modeling cello sounds a bit metallic in the higher registers. Someone once commented on VI Control that there were problems in the lower registers (I don't recall if he was referring to Audio Modeling Cellos). I have Sample Modeling Strings (love 'em so far) and I'm about to upgrade to the new Audio Modeling Cello. Your work is inspirational!

Excelente comparativa.

Hi Iretional. Very impressive performance. When I’m playing the SWAM cello it doesn’t sound half as nice. Would you mind sharing the EQ and reverb settings? Thanks in advance! Kind regards. Herman (Belgium)
@iretional86972 жыл бұрын
I remember I used cinematic rooms for reverb and amplified low frequency a little bit with fabfilter compressor. Don't use SWAM's native reverb 'cause it sucks. No major EQ was applied so that even without the effects it would've sounded same, which means adjusting EQ is not likely to solve your problem. The main consideration was to control cc values like expression and string pressure dynamically as possible.
