  On Steam Deck in controller settings, for Y button set extra command to press LT with delay for 275 ms. This way most of your attacks will charge your Exceed Gauge.

  If you burned the tree before saving Ansbach you can still go back and save him if you haven't progressed past Spiral Rise. I just went back and did it. I had given him the scroll before burning the tree however.
