    I have a Hongdian 517D fude, it writes very smoothly but the color of the fonts is always much lighter than the other pens that I use. And I am using the same black ink. The ink flow is just adequate maybe that's why. Is there anyway I can fix the existing nib? I cleaned it out yesterday without removing the nib from the feed; only twisted off the nib/feed assembly.

    Thanks so much for posting this! I've been trying to figure out how to fix my scratchy nib for ages. I have some mylar sheets - can I use that instead of a 4000 grit nail file?

    One of my cousins from India sent me a Pierre Cardin fountain pen set from Delhi. It still works, but barely. I do, however, still have one of my Dad's old fountain pens. He was an engineer from India, and had the most beautiful handwriting ever. 😊

    One thing that helped me with a dripping flex nib is holding the pen nib down and let it drip. After 2-3 drops, the pressure seemed to stabilise and it started flowing consistently

    Wish I had watched this first. Just wasted a whole sample of ink by screwing off the back end thinking this was an eyedropper fill style. First time using this type of pen without a converter, and now my countertop is a lovely shade of FPR Galaxy Blue Shimmer. Oof. Thanks for the video. Lesson learned. 😭

    I bought a bunch of the Guru pens at once. I would not disassemble the pen in the way shown. One of my Guru pens separated the barrel from the section. Fortunately a good bead of super glue repaired it. A better method would be to pull the nib and feed then push a wooden dowel through the section to push against the piston. Then twist the piston knob. To remove it and the piston. I’m not sure if my Guru wasn’t put together properly or not. But it wasn’t strong enough to withstand the piston pressing against the section. I hope this helps someone out in the future. PS. I found out this way of disassembly from a Nathan Tardif video. He owns Noodler’s Inks. His Nib Creeper pen is clutchless and this is how he recommends you disassemble his pen.

    Hi mate. Greetings from Sydney. I got a pen from you with ebonite #6 feed. It came assembled already. After filling the pen it writes nice no more than 10 lines. Nice and wet flow as expected. After 5-10 lines there is a sudden spit of one or two big drops of ink. So annoying. I removed nib and feed. Tried ultraflex nib with the same feed and unit - the problem. It happens when tank is full, and when tank is half full with air pushed out completely and when tank is half full with air in tank. What to do, the pen is not cheap and Ultraflex EF nib writes nice, i love it. But those drop bombs are no no no

    Kevin, I enjoyed the video about FPR. I, too, am a very frugal guy who can appreciate quality at a lesser price. I plan to take advantage of the availability of the reasonably priced pens your company offers. I'm 69 years old and have enjoyed writing with fountain pens since elementary school where I was taught to write cursive. It's a shame that today penmanship is not a valued skill taught to students. Good luck with your endeavor!

    So i was wondering is it easier to write and spread the tip with a flex, or ultra flex? Which one transitions easier and is better for beginers?

  • @FountainPenRevolution

    The nib on my Jinhao 750 was impossible to remove. So I tried this method, and it worked. 1. Remove ink cartridge, rinse nib, blot dry 2. Cut a 25 cm (10 in) length of postal twine, double and knot to form a loop 3. Cut a 1x25 cm (0.5x10 in) strip of masking tape 4. Do 4 very tight wraps around bare nib/feeder at collar 5. Align loop strands with sides of metal nib 6. Do 8 very tight wraps around postal twine and nib/feeder 7. Grab cord and pen body firmly, pull using shoulders After this heroic initial removal, the nib was reasonably easy to remove with normal hand force. If you slightly dampen a folded paper towel, that will conform to the ribs in the feeder and make it less likely to deform them when pulling.

    Got all fancy with Japanese pens now huh?! :) Still some of the best flex nibs out there, even compared to the "name brands". I'm still using my FPR pens and I just bought one of your fancy kardashian high falootin' pens. Looking forward to seeing how things have changed since the last time I was inking up.

    Dear FPR , thank you for this advice. I use fountain pens mostly in a life class. Each sketch takes from 3 to 7 minutes for about two hours. I discovered that the only fountain pen that worked without any problems of flow was Pilot parallel. Yesterday both my Ahabs stopped , and I had to resort to Pilot parallels. Did you come across Ackerman pens? Thank you,Dmitry

    Dear FPR, I ordered some ultra flex nibs from you to fit into my Ahabs and Indigraph pens. Do I have to prepare your nibs similar to dip nibs - fire, vinegar, raw potato, saliva etc? Thank you, Dmitry

    What about the feed tube? Wouldn't that method risk damaging or crushing that? How about using an appropriately-sized socket from the inside & another appropriately-sized deep well socket from the nib side, with gentle hammer-taps to do the same while risking it far less?

  • @FountainPenRevolution
    @FountainPenRevolution Жыл бұрын

    This procedure should only be done on an ebonite feed. If your feed has a tail then it will have to be pulled out from the front.
