A fantastic build! I am currently working on a similar project and I love your work! One thing that bothers me is how do you get the trailer registered after it has been manufactured? Am I going to need a ton of cash in order to put it on the road? If you have any answersto this question please let me know. And keep on working on this beautiful trailer!

well I currently haven't got past the planning stage so I have no idea what to do to get it registered, and I imagine its different for every state. Although I have heard of other people doing something very similar and it didn't sound like it was very difficult to get it on the road. Hope it goes well for us both :)

Any further developments? Would you be willing to share the the file? What is your hardware list? I have an older bike with speedo cable that is fixing to go. So I have been thinking about changing it all to digital. However, my skills in electronics are close to zero. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry, unfortunatley this project is dead. the bike I was going to use it on got sold. its a decent start if you want to work off it though. you would just have to figure out how to get the inputs from the bike into the RPi and scale it to useful numbers. I was planning on using one of those LCD touch screens that still work with gloves on (either capacitive or resistive touch screen, can't remember)

Just a tip. You have to remove the screw on top of the clamp. The nut is welded onto the clamp. 😉

A single centre beam like you have designed will not be strong enough. The momentary forces on this part of a trailer when a sudden dip is encountered can put a huge amount of stress on it. I am designing my own trailer too and will be using an A style front section to double the strength. Other than that, I like your design. I will be using air-bags on my trailer as they absorb bumps more gentle and stop things from rattling so much.
