  Might already be obvious to others, but I think I understand the end of the video now -- with sport of form being a competition with only our past selves, Dan is still treating life like a sport of measure and keeping score against the progress of others in the present. When he wakes to find Iggy Pop, a veritable god towering loudly in glory, he can't help but wither in his comparison to someone he deems far worthier. For a time he forgets that we're only ever truly measured by how we improve ourselves, and that comparison is a sad death of both joy and growth.
