Thank God i fialed it in and bought all my musky lures years ago!
That is a nice musky anywhere. In Illinois she’s a monster. What a beauty
Very nice walleyes is that Port Clinton Ohio Catawba you said you was on the beach
Never been! But sounds like a cool spot! Lol. This is in Wisconsin 🤙
Nice fish(es)!! That is so awesome when they get it good like that one had T-boned that pink lure!! .... Yep on topwater. Never would have believed it either but it's true. 10 years ago Here in Tennessee we start late winter/early spring and go at night. Topwater walleye blow up hard!! They absolutely chomp it!! Check out SPRO Zero minnow or ima pencil poppers or rapala BX waking minnow or deps spiral minnow. All those are topwater. We also do great on bandit walleye crank baits in deep, shallow, B-Rotan.
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing 🤙
Nice fish 🎣
Ya'll be careful out there. Night shore fishing around my lakes gets sketchy. Thanks for the tips, I've caught a 5 limit of pre-spawn walleye from the bank. 2 fish were 5+lbs. It's not readily available to get limited from the bank.
Always very selective where I fish at night 🙏 better safe than sorry! Lol nice work on those fish 🤙
That was a coincidence him staying at the cabin wow. Very productive day 🎣🎣
Wild right?! 👍
Amen brother. 🙏🏼
🙏👍
Awesome fish why did you bring it to the weeds rather than releasing it where you caught it?
The wind pushed em into the weeds but overall its a very shallow lake with "pockets" of small deep holes. It's almost like fishing for bass lol but u just hop from hole to hole and usually run into muskies. You're constantly surrounded by weeds. The fish are never far from a nearby pocket or hole of deeper water. This fish probably swam right to one 👍
But have you tried green light?
🤔 not yet?? Lol
Excellent video sir! I have the Komodo as well, but the lefty paddle version. Absolutely love it! Would I rather have a Lexa or Tranx? The quality is pretty comparable actually. I just think this reel is not exactly apples-to-apples. The non-disengaging pawl and the added clicker can make this reel more desirable depending on the type of fishing you want to do. So I put this reel on a Chaos Tackle 20/20 telescopic 8'6" Assault Stick. I got a great deal on both, and got the combo for $500.00 and change. Also, your daughter is the absolute cutest, and I can tell you are a great dad! I miss those days with my kids so much. Even though my girls are getting old enough to move out, the silver lining is that I will have more time for fishing soon! Woot!
So true about kids growing up! But I'm trying to soak up every second while I can! Being their dad is the pinnacle of my life! So thankful to have my wife and kids! And thank you for such a kind comment! But yes, the Komodos are solid! Very hard to beat for the price. The only other reel I'd recommend giving a look is the 400 from Piscifun. They are legit and at a great price! Thanks again and God bless! 🙏👍
Banner marsh wrong spot
What’s funny is I came up with this combo on my own a few weeks ago because of my the price point, and the good reviews on both products. Glad I’m not alone in my decision making 😂
Ha! That's crazy. Good choice though!
Wishing you all the best in your new ventures and he is coming again.
👍🙏
Is this lake geneva
No it was not. That is a great lake though! This was on a smaller lake in SE Wisconsin 👍
Looks great. Less clutter than ordinary tip ups. Would like to see how they do against the Beaver Dam. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for checking it out man!
Congrats on the new venture, you will continue to do good for the industry!!
So thankful we connected last year! I always enjoyed chatting with u and appreciated your support! Keep up the great work and stay in touch man!
Best of luck in the future man! Appreciate the message you spread and will continue to spread throughout whatever work you do!
Thanks for kind words man 👊🙏
@@justkeepcasting of course man! All the best!
I wish you the best brother. It was great getting to know you and see the positive impact you had on the people around you. Hope to see you again sometime soon and Just Keep Casting. 🤙
Was a blessing to meet u man. Really enjoyed hanging with u at the Battle! Always enjoyed your content, keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouraging words 🙏🤙
So long, my Brother! Well done. God bless, and tight lines! If you ever have a chance to hop across the pond, and want to do some fishin in MI, just hit me up!
Much appreciated! Don't tempt me! Haha I just might do that. I miss Michigan for sure 🙏🤙
Just say the word, Bro. I live 40 minutes from St. Clair, and even closer to Detroit River/Erie!
@@TeamJesusOutdoors sheesh... muskies... and walleye... lol great fishing!!
You Bet! I am spoiled. I don't spend as much time chasing musky as I used to, but we certainly take our fair share of Eyes!
@@TeamJesusOutdoors enjoy it! Great water!!
Really appreciate everything you’ve done with the Musky Battle. I think that extends so far past the event itself, and obviously you know how that affected my life. Hope to see you soon man, and thank you for everything, Jeff!
Its turned into a great event that is much bigger than fishing! Crazy that's how we met and I'm so glad I invited u way back then! It has been fun watching your career progress Ben. U were already a skilled angler at a young age, just needed some opportunities! Keep up the good work. Thanks for your friendship and for the kind words 🙏👊💙🤙
Thanks for being a great role model in fishing. Take care and I wish you nothing but the best .
Thanks for the kind words man 🙏👊🤙
been away for years brother, and let me tell ya its lovelyyyyyyyy. hope your doing well my friend.
Bro! Great to hear from u! We are doing great! Thankful. Been planning to do this for a few years now lol, but the timing was right and it's been a smooth transition. I look forward to it! Hope ur doing good man! If in Northern Wisconsin, hit me up 🙏🤙
Best of luck my man!!!! You’re going to kill it in your new role! And God put this in front of you for a reason! Happy for you!
Much appreciated man! Thanks for the encouragement and support 🙏🤙
good luck on your new venture
Thank you!
Best wishes and God bless you and your family Jeff! Phone works both ways and always will!
Thanks bro! I still have your number! If u got a day or weekend off, come north! Would be great to see u 🙏🤙
It takes a lot of positive willpower to step away from social medias. You’re in an awesome place in life bro. You can walk away from this but definitely not from our lives. You had a hugely positive effect on my life and helped me focus on my own imperfections often. I love ya for it and I am grateful for the friendship I got from it. See you soon
So thankful we met bro! Thank you for taking me fishing and for helping me take the Battle to the next level! Your friendship has been such a blessing to me, seriously. Stay in touch and I hope to see u and Kassidy this year! 🙏👊💙
Going to miss all the videos ❤

Casting on top doesnt necessarily scare them, that mimics a fish that dropped from a bird, that’s why you should mimic a retreating and dying fish with your bait after the cast, I usually real hard for 5 seconds then pause, rinse and repeat lol
Generally yes, but in late fall - after dark - with water temps under 45 degrees, not too many birds flying at night lol. Walleye will still hit topwater in those conditions but it's very rare that time of year (I've had it happen a few times over the years). As said in the vid, in my experience over the years when sight fishing walleye at night in shallow and crystal clear water, 9 times out of 10 they are gonna spook immediately 🤷♂️ but sometimes u get l lucky with a dumb one and it doesn't haha. I like the dumb ones, especially if they're big! Thanks for input. I get the logic 👍
These guys act like everyone has 500 bucks laying around to buy A fishing rod and reel. Then they say you need twenty different setups. Crazy.
I definitely don't have that kinda money laying around lol 👍
Exactly my point
@@jeffyount3559 yeah, I also only have 2 setups. Been that way for years. It gets the job done, I can fish all the baits I want to, and I catch fish 🤷♂️ I did these musky fishing on a budget vids cuz I felt like a lot of guys were getting pushed away from the sport due to this "have to spend thousands of dollars on gear or you're not hardcore" mentality lol. I respectfully disagree. It's tough tho, cuz the market and overpricing keeps jacking up the prices at a rapid rate. Don't know how much longer I'll even be in the game 🤦♂️
A SWEET old style Garcia mitchell 300 works just fine for any fresh water fish. And you can pick them up for around 50 bucks or so.
You have really developed a specialized fishing method. That first fish looks so emancipated. How can those fish grow and survive? What is the forage base in that water?
That fish was likely an older male. They usually have big heads and slender bodies. This lake has a lot of forage and a big variety. It seriously has almost everything. 90 % of the fish caught in that lake are heavy / healthy.
@@justkeepcasting I typed emaciated, but the auto correct changed it. Very interesting theory about age and getting thinner. Glad others are chunky.
@@swampwhiteoak1 yeah, very common for big males to have big heads and skinny bodies lol whenever they hit like 24+ inches they start to get uglier 🤣 still fun. But the big females are almost always heavy. Even if they hit 30 inches. Those are the ones u hope to run into!!
7" or 6"
I have done well on all 3 sizes, but honestly the 4.5" has produced the most fish 🤷♂️ i think if you're fishing deeper and / or you want to fish slower, the 6" or 7" are ideal. I am often fishing from shore and in shallow water, so the 4.5" shines there. Hope that helps! 🤙
Thanks for the reply I'm m in central Florida and am targeting monsters so now my question has to be what size have your largest fish taken?
@@nodemever3291 my honest opinion from experience over the years is that working smaller baits really slow leads to catching BIG fish. It's just the truth. Big baits absolutely catch big fish, but big presentations don't produce as consistently. Smaller presentations with finesse and slower retrieves consistently catch and catch bigger fish. That's just my personal experience. But certain times of year and certain conditions BIG baits are the way to go 👍
Good job on getting those hooks out bro! Glad you were there to help !! 🤙
Me too! Lol glad it worked out! 👍
Called his shot! Miss it for sure, my dude!
👊👊
Musky Battle seems fun. I need to figure out how to finagle my way in to the battle some day.
Do u have my number or email Babe? You should definitely come next year, but probably need to get u in contact with other guys involved, as I will not be overseeing this much more in the future. If you're interested in MN reach out to @mcleanmuskies and if you're interested in WI then touch base with Conklyn. He can keep u in the loop. Maybe I'll see u there next year 🤙
Awesome and congrats Tyler!
Awesome video! Sending condolences and prayers to Ian's family😢 What a beautiful Lodge and congratulations to the winners and that beautiful tiger musky!
Super cool bro! Lodge looks awesome as well 😁 i ‘might have to check that place out ‼️‼️
U totally should bro! If u guys came we could definitely hang out and catch up. Let me know 🤙
@@justkeepcasting 💯 % ‼️ 🤙
$70 for a plastic tip up is crazy!
Website currently says $49.99? But even still, I understand what it's like being on a budget (trust me lol). If it's not worth it to u then don't spend the money. But there are a lot of guys who have and they would tell u it's worth it 🤷♂️👍
@@justkeepcasting its says $70 for me. Might be because I'm in Canada. I like the concept and can see the benefits but $70 is crazy lol
@@Salty_Mcnaultys yup probably cuz you're in Canada lol makes sense. They are legit. Very durable. But I'm sure u will still catch fish on other setups as well 🙏👍
My last name Contreras too lol
Yooo! Let's go! Hahaha 🤙
Damn man you think st clair muskies are legendary? You gotta try whipping the st clair river in the fall, especially if you like the night bite.. whipping might actually be a term specific and native to this area, not sure if it’s a common practice at all lol
Its definitely well known there! Never done but always wanted to try! My LSC buddy Dan told me all about it 🤙
I was out fishing in this very clear water river. No luck fish until dark. Right when i was about to leave i flash my headlight into the water and i saw glow reflecting eyes. And i knew it was walleyes. I left my headlight on and cast and guess what i saw the glowing eyes move fast and hit my bait. Me and my son actually stay later than we thought walking those shoreline looking for glowing eyes.
It's a lot of fun!
Not sure what kind of Drugs that guy is on ? But there is not 1 confirmed whale species in Minnesota!! What an idiot !!
is this just at lake Bemidji or is it also the surrounding lakes as well?
Surrounding lakes as well 👍
Always the best!
👊😁
EPIC action on the -8 there at the beginning of the video, when you really sped up that lure. Even though it didn't stay pinned, that was epic! This video had some of the best figure-8 technique I've ever seen. Next-level stuff. Beast of a fish there too, the one that hit at the end of the cast.
Thanks for watching! We're always learning and trying to get better, always 👊🤙
Right on! Subscribed!
Thank you 🙏
That’s awesome that you take your little girl, great memories for the both of you. What size is that Xrap? Tight lines!
Nothing beats fishing with my kids! No 6 and 8 are my go to, but when the big fish get really aggressive I'll throw a 10. Thanks for watching!! 🤙
Good times!!
Thanks again for being there guys! The energy in your boat with Zack's fish was AWESOME!!!
