Thanks Stephanie! I love Phoenix too, just wish it had a beach 🙈 Do you still live here? I am actually growing out a pixie, it’s taking an eternity… I’m currently using Ecoslay Orange Marmalade, I just try to distribute a pump or two as evenly as possible and comb it through, then scrunch with a microfiber towel. I typically air dry. No expensive shampoos or conditioners, just mega bottles of Pantene from Costco. The last time I grew my hair long I switched my products up at some point and started using more of a cocktail, Bounce Curl and Ecoslay together. I also finish with Ecoslay oil or Jessicurl oil. It’s a lot, hope that helps!

@@strandedkiwiknits I was in Tucson and then Houston for my husband and my careers-26 years,, now we live in the mountains in Steamboat CO, thanks for all the hair tips- I have a pixie also and am trying to grow it out! I will try your suggestions! We used to say- when Cali drops off we would have beach front property! I don’t think that will happen in our lifetime but I do love the beach!

I live in Salem, MA, have 3 kids in their early 30's and one grandchild with another due in a couple weeks. I've been knitting and crocheting since I was a child off and on (self taught), but always on in the past 5 years or so. I have wonderful memories of riding my back down to a local yarn shop as a child and watching a table full of women laughing and knitting; and even as a child, it was so appealing.

I lived in Adelaide for 3 years 33 years ago, I'm sure it's changed heaps since then but their are some great groups around. @@MoiraFraser Hi! I touched on that in my last episode because it’s weird, I know. My husband is a Kiwi, and years ago when I had a small jewelry business I wanted to incorporate that into the name. I heard a song on the radio and part of the lyrics are “Stranded, reaching out…” and as soon as I heard the word Stranded (like a strand of pearls) I knew Stranded Kiwi was my name. I stopped selling jewelry and when I picked up knitting again in 2019 I archived all my jewelry posts on IG and used the same Stranded Kiwi account. That’s all it is!

Even if I upgrade later on to another e-wheel I will keep my little Nano. Why? It is so handy for adding twist to a yarn I am working with that keeps splitting! Sometimes just a little bit makes such a difference in how much trouble a yarn is to work with.

Thank you for this wonderful review. I'm looking for my first electric spinning wheel and need something that allows me to spin consistent and a lot of worsted weight (blanket weight) singles for the type of weaving I do, so it needs to have great power at low speeds rather than being fast. I've tried an Ashford and Hansen, and both seem to peter out at low speeds. (Might be me being new to e-spinners..) Which of the wheels that you reviewed would you suggest I consider? Thanks again.

Of all the E-spinners I have owned, for heavy weights I would recommend the Spinolution Firefly. You can do anything from gossamer to chunky art yarn and everything in between. I tried making art yarn and to ply I used very slow speed, like you're wanting. I would look for a new one that is used, golden whorl. Good luck!

Great comparisons of all of these e-Spinners. I have been a supporter of Dreaming Robots and Maurice for a long time and have participated in many of his Kickstarters. Never disappointed. I realise your question is a year old, you might already have a spinning wheel by now. Still, in case you haven’t taken the plunge yet or in case someone else has the sale question, here’s my take on it: Spinning on a traditional spinning wheel means you need to learn how to combine treadling consistently with drafting your fibre, controlling your twist, and setting a tension/uptake you’re happy with. Using an e-spinner means you don’t need to worry about treadling. It means you can have more focus on what your hands are doing and what’s happening with the fibre. This can be useful. Then again, for some people that’s not much of an issue. Piano players for example, are used to doing two different things with their hands and a third with their feet. People driving a car with manual shifts as well. It’s not brain surgery and a lot of people take to spinning like a duck to water. I’d say significant elements would be how much space you have, what your budget is, and which kind of yarn you gravitate towards when knitting or doing crochet. Traditional spinning wheels (new ones) can be quite expensive. For me as a lace knitter with an absolutely tiny but cramped home and a spinal injury, the EEW Nano2 is the perfect spinning wheel. My budget being almost as small as my home means the price was a big factor too. If there’s a craft fair or spinning guild near you, I’d say: try out several spinning wheels, both e-spinners and traditional ones. If that’s not an option, consider learning to spin with a spindle first. Or… buy yourself an EEW if you’re wondering whether spinning is for you at all. The EEW spinners are good quality for a diminutive price. You can always upgrade. Hope that helps!

I would imagine the bobbins are interchangeable between wheels of the same flyer size, but the flyers are only interchangeable between the Firefly, Monarch and Echo as far as I know.

I have the Nano, the EEW 6, and the Daedalus Magpie. They are all great wheels. I love the EEWs because they are really great spinners at am affordable price. Even at their price they spin well and are easy to use. I also love Maurice's updates. Customer service is very responsive.The Nano was my first espinner. I also love the Daedalus as well. The Magpie is the biggest and three only thing I don't like it's that the bobbins aren't flat pack. I love all the espinners I have!

I'm in Italy and my lovely Jensen wheel is not....so when I found the EEW Nano 1.0 at such an amazingly affordable price I was thrilled! It's got me back into spinning after years away from the craft. The Kickstarter for the 6.0 came out within a few months of my receiving my Nano, so I signed on. Since receiving the 6.0 I"ve not used my Nano 9mostly because the 6.0's huge bobbin is so much more convenient) but I will always keep it for it's extreme portability (camping, weekly knitting group, etc.). Love both of my EEW wheels and will never give them up, even when I'm reunited with my lovely Jensen.

You didn't mentioned the possibillity to chanche from Irish to Scotch tension and visa versa on the Daedalus wheel. It is an very nice feature to me.

I enjoyed your video. I got my Nano because of price and my inability to use my treadle wheel much. I really liked that I could spin fine. When Maurice spoke about the 6.0, I told my hubby, his reaction was "go for it". I enjoy both of them. I couldn't afford either of the other two.

Disclaimer, this is Maurice the inventor of the Electric Eel Wheel so consider my biases in the message below. Oh, by the way Niki, now you can say you have had an interaction with me :-) This is an awesome video! Not many people have have experience with so many eSpinners so when someone who does shares this kind of video it's super useful for others. I did see some battery packs that require lights with my EEWs. The reason is because the battery packs require a certain amount of power usage to say on, but the EEW doesn't use enough power when not spinning to keep the battery pack on so if someone has one of these battery packs I've also recommended using a light. One of the reason I recommend tallentcell batteries is because they don't require a light but there are a lot of different battery options that work great with the EEW. My philosophy about letting people modify and use other people's parts is something that doesn't maximize my profits, but it's how I'd want to be treated when I'm a customer so I do things that way with my small business. The next batch of EEW 6.0s in the spring will be pretty much the same. I'm just making a few minor changes to make it more reliable and changing to a more portable foot switch. The new version of the EEW Nano in spring will have a lot of upgrades over the version you have, but will keep the same size and be about the price. Thanks again for making this great video.

Hi Maurice! Just to clarify, I have a couple of non Talentcell batteries that turn off when you stop spinning with the Electric Eel Wheel, but they keep going ‘while’ I’m spinning. The 15v battery that is recommended by Daedalus will turn off while you are spinning if you don’t plug something else into the USB port.

Just hopping on to tell you that I bought my EEW Nano2 back in November 2023 from a Dutch reseller who sourced their stock through you. I absolutely LOVE my Nano2 and am so happy I took the plunge. I bought mine at a crafts fair in Ghent, Belgium and if I decide to upgrade I’m definitely getting the EEW6. Please keep doing what you do because you are making spinning accessible to a lot of people who couldn’t afford a spinning wheel otherwise, who can’t treadle for health reasons and/or who don’t have the space for a traditional spinning wheel. I decided on your EEW mainly thanks to the advice a friend of mine was enthusiastic about it. She doesn’t own one but several members of her spinning group/guild have either a Nano or the 6. She tried them out and told me if she ever gets an e-spinner, an EEW would be it. Coming from a competition spinner that’s quite a review. KZread reviews seemed to agree. So when I got the chance to try both the Nano2 and the EEW6, I did… fell in love right then and there and bought mine right away. I thought you’d perhaps get a little bit of a kick out of my story as if I’m not mistaken you hail from the US. How I got mine kind of spans three continents: from the Americas (production ) to Australia (advice) to Europe (Belgium where I live, and The Netherlands where the reseller is based).

Not many people have have experience with so many eSpinners so when someone who does shares this kind of video it's super useful for others. I did see some battery packs that require lights with my EEWs. The reason is because the battery packs require a certain amount of power usage to say on, but the EEW doesn't use enough power when not spinning to keep the battery pack on so if someone has one of these battery packs I've also recommended using a light. One of the reason I recommend tallentcell batteries is because they don't require a light but there are a lot of different battery options that work great with the EEW. My philosophy about letting people modify and use other people's parts is something that doesn't maximize my profits, but it's how I'd want to be treated when I'm a customer so I do things that way with my small business. The next batch of EEW 6.0s in the spring will be pretty much the same. I'm just making a few minor changes to make it more reliable and changing to a more portable foot switch. The new version of the EEW Nano in spring will have a lot of upgrades over the version you have, but will keep the same size and be about the price. Thanks again for making this great video.
Hi Maurice! Just to clarify, I have a couple of non Talentcell batteries that turn off when you stop spinning with the Electric Eel Wheel, but they keep going ‘while’ I’m spinning. The 15v battery that is recommended by Daedalus will turn off while you are spinning if you don’t plug something else into the USB port.

Just hopping on to tell you that I bought my EEW Nano2 back in November 2023 from a Dutch reseller who sourced their stock through you. I absolutely LOVE my Nano2 and am so happy I took the plunge. I bought mine at a crafts fair in Ghent, Belgium and if I decide to upgrade I’m definitely getting the EEW6. Please keep doing what you do because you are making spinning accessible to a lot of people who couldn’t afford a spinning wheel otherwise, who can’t treadle for health reasons and/or who don’t have the space for a traditional spinning wheel. I decided on your EEW mainly thanks to the advice a friend of mine was enthusiastic about it. She doesn’t own one but several members of her spinning group/guild have either a Nano or the 6. She tried them out and told me if she ever gets an e-spinner, an EEW would be it. Coming from a competition spinner that’s quite a review. KZread reviews seemed to agree. So when I got the chance to try both the Nano2 and the EEW6, I did… fell in love right then and there and bought mine right away. I thought you’d perhaps get a little bit of a kick out of my story as if I’m not mistaken you hail from the US. How I got mine kind of spans three continents: from the Americas (production ) to Australia (advice) to Europe (Belgium where I live, and The Netherlands where the reseller is based).
