Chronically Musical

Chronically Musical

Hi there!

My name is Alice, and I am a chronically ill classical musician. You probably couldn’t tell either of those things just by looking at me though, could you?

At age 24, I was diagnosed with both Inflammatory Bowel Disease (ulcerative colitis) and Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease, and since then my life has changed drastically. Now, two years later, I’m documenting my journey, publicly, and learning a whole lot about myself in the process.

On this channel, I will be sharing my experiences from colonoscopy prep to audition prep and everything in between, and I hope you’ll consider joining me along the way!

Welcome to Chronically Musical!

    You have to stay flexible if you have to do this when you get older. It ain’t easy. 🙄😂 Great and funny tutorial. You got to the bottom of things…😂😂. Imho… Suppositories may sting briefly if you have swollen hemorrhoids. But usually mild and manageable. They melt quickly and take down inflammation. They can leak a bit so wear a pad if going to work. Unless the suppository was to make you have a bowel movement, most are just to take down inflammation locally so it is unlikely you will have cramping. Diet wise… Tip: try to stay away from nitrates and sulfites. They can cause a bowel flare up and anal issues. That includes most white wine.🥲 Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to talk about your tooter, butt, ass, and your back passage as my Mother would say. lol Bottoms up!

  • @ChronicallyMusical
    @ChronicallyMusical23 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the tips!! Wearing a pad when using suppositories is definitely a great suggestion. Most of the time I don't have any leakage but sometimes that's not the case!

    Can you use any other enema than the saline? I know that the saline enemas cause severe cramping and cause rectal burning.

  • @ChronicallyMusical
    @ChronicallyMusical23 күн бұрын

    There are definitely different types of enemas for different things. Sometimes suspension enemas are used to treat diseases like IBD. In my experience, I have only used saline enemas to deal with an impacted stool or prep for a scope procedure. Unfortunately cramping and stomach pain is just part of the process but that usually goes away once I use the bathroom!

  • @ENEMA_AND_YOGA_CHANNEL

    Mesalamine suspension enemas can be used to treat IBD, but otherwise I don’t know of an other enemas that are used to help treat symptoms of the disease like cramping. I would definitely seek out a gastroenterologist if you don’t have one to see if they have some treatment options for you to help with the pain 😔

    Are you having to still use foam on remicade sometimes?

  • @ChronicallyMusical
    @ChronicallyMusical23 күн бұрын

    Yes, sometimes! I have not entered a full blown flare since starting Remicade, but I have had some mild bleeding and increased inflammation here and there, and when that happens I do a short round of foam to get the bleeding under control before having to turn to something like oral steroids. It helps knock it out!

    I recently had my first colonoscopy (and upper endoscopy) at 28, and I was literally watching all of your colonoscopy prep videos while enduring my own prep experience. My doctor prescribed a "split prep" of drinking half the Miralax solution the evening before the procedure and the other half 5 hours before the procedure, with some Dulcolax laxatives and Gas-X in between at specific times. It WORKED. I found some flushable wipes that are alcohol-free and have both aloe and witch hazel (very soothing!). I admittedly slept on my bathroom floor that night (well... attempted to sleep). The doctor ended up finding a large pre-cancerous polyp which he removed in several pieces, and I get to be re-scoped in a year (oh joy!). Ultimately very glad I went through with the procedure and caught this early. Thank you for being so open about such an important topic. It really is so important to de-stigmatize and de-mystify the whole experience so that it's not some big scary horrible thing.

    @@dynomite1988it will get you a point where you cannot hold it in anymore at which point you will need to use the toilet. I imagine it’s different for everyone, I recall it taking 5-10 minutes in my experience. You should hole the position you chose for administration until you absolutely cannot anymore which is why I recommend doing this in the bathroom so you don’t have far to travel. Hope that helps!

    Constipation is dangerous for many reasons... In particular with myself, after many days, the ammonia levels can rise and reek all sorts of havoc... I can tell because my eyes start to get a yellowish tinge to them. But on the flip side, my medication can REALLY make you GO. (Lactulose) You can easily get dehydrated if you are not careful. My Fiancé also struggles with ABS and has found your videos very helpful with the information that you provide. I have told you this before, but Thank you again for what you do Alice. Just knowing others are dealing with these issues as well, makes things a bit less daunting. 🎻

My wife and I are not cool with putting the sample in our fridge or freezer. Do you think it'd be ok to turn in my sample at room temp or even with an ice pack instead of frozen if I drop it off 2-3 hours after doing #2? Or when they say frozen, they mean frozen? I don’t believe either gets absorbed anywhere as they are not creams or liquid or anything? But I’m not a medical professional so don’t quote me! I find it really helps when my neck is super inflamed!
