Thank you so much for such an honest story about your first snake! I looked into getting a snake for over a year (after being interested since I was a teen!) and finally got my ball python Perri a couple weeks ago. My first few times handling him were great! But newbies will make mistakes no matter how prepared, and he's bit me a couple times since then - One time in which he would NOT let go and I had to get my gin - I hadn't thoroughly washed my hands and in retrospect, he was also in hunting mode at the time based on his behaviors prior to me trying to grab him! It's good to hear about beginner experiences from people who are very experienced now, especially being a beginner and having heard people say "if you're scared of handling your snake then you shouldnt have a snake"

The odd thing is that I didn't notice it for the first few days after receiving her and the breeder said she wasn't like that befor shipping.
You are the first person I have heard talk about this. I have a female stillwater hypo that had this same issue with part of the yolk stem sticking out. Everyone I asked about this didn't have answers for me. It was probably a 8th to a quarter of in inch sticking out and was like that for almost a year before I noticed it wasn't there anymore.
Absolutely gorgeous lightning pieds 💜 I have a question- in can be a topic for a video of it can just be your input. I have a project in mind that I want to get into- I don't see anyone else working on it and I mainly want to try it because I think the end result will be absolutely amazing. However, as a nobody in the bp world, I'm not confident in my ability to sell what I don't keep as holdbacks since they'll probably be outside of the normal pet market price range. What are your thoughts on that? I'm trying to stay small but also balance passion projects with breedings for the pet market to keep those projects funded.
This is some good information to keep in your back pocket. Even if you have access to a vet usually, things can happen during the off hours.

I’ve been watching your videos prepping for my start to work with ball pythons just want to say thank you
100% While I do plan to add another rack next year, I'm cycling out animals before the next breeding season. I'm hoping to upgrade my collection because someone else is doing the same. I hate to call it a pyramid, but it really is in a way. Anything not at least 100% Het is on its way out to open up valuable space for other animals to actually further my projects.
Another great video John, I have a question for a possible future video. What do you do if you have a near hatchling age ball python that went into shed but never shed his skin even with high humidity? Still has eye caps and all.
I'd soak it in warm water. I've never had one go past a week after hatching and not shed.

Sorry you lost one! Its really sad..Did the 2 you were worried about make it? Ive got two babies in egg with what looks like reduced pattern and cant see any movement, leaving them be and hoping they come out 🤞 just checking every day or two for any signs of life. Other 6 seem fine but my incubator did fluctuate a lottle at end of development (28.8-31.1 degrees c) hoping that hasnt done any damage. Love watching your videos and thankyou for sharing the sad truths with breeding harly anyone shares this side of breeding.
