    Hey there, hope all is well and appreciate your detailed reviews. Have a question for you when you have time.. I'm a retired electrical engineer and would like to buy a more modern 4 channel oscilloscope as more of a hobby item use than profession. In my later years the job I had did not require much use of one, so I'm a bit rusty, but presently I own an old 60mhz analog scope. In your experience - which of these two 4-channel models would you recommend? I'm torn between Siglent or Rigol currently, but open to suggestions. Just trying to get the most bang for the buck basically. Siglent 1204-XE Rigol DS1054Z Thanks again for your advice!

    Siglent is a little better brand and much more like the button layout on them as well. What many do, as well as I did, is that buy the 1104X-E for a much cheaper price and then with a software key (that you can not buy but exist on the internet) "hack" and change it to a 1204X-E and get 200MHz bandwidth.

  • @mse6424

    Hi, measuring current or voltage with a multimeter, you have to choose the measuring range on the meter (if it's not a autorange...). Lets say you set the 20V range, that means the meter will show values up to 20V. If you have 21Volts on the meter Input, the meter will show "OL" for OverLoad (the voltage is too high to be displayed). Then you have to switch to the next higher range: 200V. The meter will now show 21Volt. If you are measuring Resistance (Ohms) and the TestLeads are open, the meter will show "OL" for an Open Loop. If you shorten the Test Leads, or put a resistor between (inside the range!) the meter will show the value.

    @@mse6424 OL = Open Loop not OverLoad!!! And has nothing to do with voltage to high but with resistance to high in Ohm measurements.

    The web server on the Siglent is not the right way to control a scope. The Rigol uses standard protocols which allow it to be integrated into a testing environment along with other GPIB-controlled gear.

  • @sihilius
    @sihilius2 жыл бұрын

    The Siglent can be controlled over ethernet, using the SCPI commands given in the "Siglent SDS Remote Programming Manual" and considering the pricepoint thats quite impressive already. Also I am not so sure if i'd want to use either of these scopes in a Test environment. I'd Probably prefer a techtronix or something comparable for that kind of purpose. Those scopes are probably better suited for enthusiats, students and such, not so much for professional use.

    i bought it , and used it for a month , and i regret it , the image quality is very bad , it never gives good balance between light and dark areas , the light is refleced directly to the camera when working with cicuit boards or electronics repairs , cannot see the parts clearly and the colors is not clear too , cannot tell if there is some thing dicolored or burned , and after a month or so of usage , it died , it doesnt turn on , i opened it and tested the board , i found the circuit board to be shorting on the power area next to the charger port , and its poor design seems to have failed in short time because it generates lots of heat while it doesnt have and proper cooling , its one of the worst microscopes in the market and no matter what price you pay for it , doesnt worth it never buy this model , you will end up throwing it in trash
