They made those things to fight for freedom. Back in the days when the enemy was outside of the country. Now we have enemies in Congress who want to take down our country. And they want to disarm us also. They called themselves socialists. Just like Stalin and Mao wanting to do genocide against Trump voters.

One of the coolest things I own is a 6" Armstrong case (separate shell and brass case) from the Spanish Cruiser Cristobal Colon which sank after being run aground in the final chase at the end of the Battle of Santiago in 1898. The case is stamped 97 and on the base are stenciled markings in Spanish for Smokeless powder. The Colon had surrendered to the US but as its seacocks were open it slowly settled at the stern and then turned and capsized and sank. This shell case has no indication of water staining and the paint is still present so I think it was probably taken off as a souvenir in the ten hours it was in american hands. It has stamped on the case post battle with an inscription stating it came off the Colon after being chased by the USS Oregon and Brooklyn. The base has a screw in primer. I have an article on it at the Spanish American War Centennial Website. Oddly enough the USS New Orleans was an Elswick cruiser purchased by the US just prior to the war and this ship was also armed with the 6" smokeless Armstrong guns.

Simply said - in the context of the development of the materiel part of the artillary - and that was all, that intetested me - this object - the piston breech - cannot be described as "prescision engeneering. Besides, I was tired and angry from going thogh trillions of "amateur" videoclips and idiotic "documentaries" and this this has left certain negative emotional traces on everything which followed.

This thish mainly should safely prevent the breakthrough of the gas outside. Defects of actual construction don't play that mcuh of a role, their influence on the behaviour of the shell - to the diferents to that (defects) of the barrel) - is insingnificant in the scales of the happening processes.
