    Whats the best way to replace the rack end seals?

  • @simmoshomeworkshop
    @simmoshomeworkshopКүн бұрын

    Changing the seals usually requires the removal of the rack ends (there's a couple vids for removal of those) and pulling the rack out of the tube to get to the seals, alternatively you can use a small screw into the seal and lever them out with the rack in place, either way can be a PITA and it's pretty common if those seals are leaking the surface condition of the rack could be the issue not the seals (corrosion usually). It's worth a check under the boots to be sure the rack is worth resealing as often it's a case to change the whole steering rack assembly at that point as corrosion to the rack surface finish is beyond economical repair. It's often a case of if they aren't leaking, I'd leave them, and if they are leaking, a new rack may be the go. Hope this helps

    @@simmoshomeworkshop mine looks like a 457 with 4 buttons on it but the box itself looks like yours so hoping this works 🤞 Do you know if there's a way to program another fob when you already have a fob? Like I said only one button 'arm' is broken on my existing fob but all the other buttons work. Just wondering if you can use the existing fob to put the box into 'learning' mode?

  • @simmoshomeworkshop

    Hmm, I have only really coded the single button fobs through the LED input and key on and off flashing procedure (from the video). I have not coded using another fob, it is possible without entering the code first (before doing the LED procedure) you instead use the other fob do disarm the immobiliser then do the second half of the procedure for the new fob, but I have never tried that.

    how can we test if torque converter slip or gearbox slip

  • @simmoshomeworkshop
    @simmoshomeworkshop8 күн бұрын

    Usually, if an auto is beginning to slip, you might expect to see rpm flares when driving, especially when changing gears. A standard torque converter would usually stall and drive through the brakes at a fairly low rpm (like 1250 to 1500) if the trans is slipping you would likely have higher rpm and not feel the vehicle pushing forward hard when stalling the torque converter. Also worth checking the fluid condition and level (usually check hot and in drive) If the fluid is dark /burnt and / or low, this is a red flag and can cause issues with shifting and possibly clutch/band slip. Any noises or harsh shifting would also suggest the auto needing attention. Hope this can help!

    Thanks! Yep, anything on the play store can be installed, I put waze on mine works well, only thing I found is I had to hotspot the unit to my phone for WiFi to use the apps on the unit. I find connecting to my phone via Bluetooth or a wired connection and using the phone apps can be an easier option.

  • @simmoshomeworkshop
    @simmoshomeworkshop11 күн бұрын

    I pulled it out through the driver's side wheel arch with the wheel off, it does fit through the chassis, suspension and sway bar. I needed to rotate it to fit the steering box section out through the gap. I did film the fitment of the rack at the end, but not the removal, would have been more helpful if I did that I imagine.

  • @simmoshomeworkshop
    @simmoshomeworkshop21 күн бұрын

    Hmm, been a while now since I owned this car and got the A/C working, could be worth checking the ambient temp sensor under the cowl, wasn't my issue but seems to be common to have issues with the sensor or the wiring to the sensor. Odd there is no clutch grounding, from memory this is a hard wire and not controlled or switched. May pay to also use a jump wire to the compressor magnetic clutch from the battery + (at the compressor plug) to see if there is issues with the clutch or the clutch ground, if it does not pull in or it could be a magnet issue or there may be a broken wire somewhere.

  • @simmoshomeworkshop

    No battery needed, power to turn on the camera comes from the reverse light circuit we spliced into, so when reverse is selected it will switch on the camera circuit. You can connect to the battery and a switch if you would like the option to switch it on demand without the use of the reverse circuit.

    The duty cycle on the T14 - 2 pin? I used the option on my multimeter (should have % or Hz) it shows a time on and time off percentage of the high pressure switch, percentage should be between 20% and 80%, anything outside of this range cuts the compressor.

    Hi, I probably added unnecessary confusion with that part, the Z32 has only one type, the short one (30501-B6064). There are other types out there for different Nissan models, if like me you buy second hand, it's possible to get the wrong one (I was supplied the wrong one initially from the second hand dealer)
