Hi, I saw on the videos that they generally return the shoes but not the laces and socks. They keep them once the carnival is over, what do they do with them? (very good video by the way)
Hi, thank you! You made a good observation. The shoelaces and socks are kept as trophies and often attached to witches' brooms as souvenirs.
Okok I find it good when he takes off his shoes but also his socks. I find that for a little while people are equal, they are barefoot in the street. And having socks stolen isn't a big deal, they're just socks. Once the carnival is over I wonder what the witches do with all these socks; they must have hundreds of them at home 😂.
They did not take the white Nike socks 😢😢😢😢
Film when people are getting their socks taken, especially white socks
We will keep that in mind
I would say the same but specially black socks or nylon socks
Thanks for the upload are you going to upload more of my favorite witches

What happened with the girl at 00:24? Did she get any shoe back?
We are not aware of this, but we think so.

So, what exactly is Fasnet? Can someone explain it to me, please?
Fasnet, also known as Fastnacht, is a traditional pre-Lenten carnival celebrated in various regions of Germany, particularly in the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg and parts of Switzerland and Austria. This vibrant festival marks the period leading up to Ash Wednesday, which signals the beginning of Lent, a time of fasting and reflection in the Christian calendar. Here are the key aspects of Fasnet: 1. Historical and Cultural Roots Fasnet has deep historical roots that date back to ancient pagan rituals. These early traditions were meant to drive away the evil spirits of winter and welcome the coming of spring. Over time, these practices were integrated into Christian customs, leading to the modern carnival celebrations. 2. Celebration Period The festivities usually begin on Epiphany (January 6th) and culminate on Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday). The most intense and colorful celebrations often take place during the last few days before Lent begins. 3. Masks and Costumes One of the most distinctive features of Fasnet is the elaborate masks and costumes worn by participants. These masks, known as "Larven" or "Schellen," are often handcrafted and depict a variety of characters, including witches (Hexen), jesters (Narren), and other folkloric figures. Each town or village might have its own unique characters and mask designs. 4. Parades and Processions Parades, known as "Umzüge," are central to Fasnet celebrations. These processions feature costumed participants, music, dancing, and floats. The parades are lively and often involve interactions with the crowd, including playful antics and the distribution of sweets and small gifts. 5. Traditional Practices and Customs During Fasnet, it is common to see traditional practices such as the "Hexen" (witches) playing pranks, mock trials, and the symbolic expulsion of winter through various rituals. In some regions, participants may engage in humorous skits, known as "Schnurren" or "Guggenmusik," where they satirize local events and personalities. 6. Community and Social Interaction Fasnet is a time for communities to come together, celebrate, and strengthen social bonds. It is an inclusive festival where people of all ages participate, and many families have their own traditions that they observe year after year. 7. Regional Variations The way Fasnet is celebrated can vary significantly from one region to another. Each town or village may have its own specific customs, characters, and events that make their celebrations unique. In summary, Fasnet is a colorful and joyous festival that combines ancient traditions with community celebration. It provides an opportunity for people to enjoy themselves before the somber period of Lent, fostering a sense of cultural identity and continuity within the regions where it is celebrated.
