  @@jakes9519 b0xx's are actually purposely nerfed in certain ways by design. In some ways gamecube controllers are actually better than box, like how boxes have no true analog inputs. I am a gamecube controller player and thinking b0xx's give you an inherent advantage are at best a meme and at most a hard cope. It's up to preference. If they give you an inherent advantage, why do most of the top 10 still use gamecube controller?

  The 1.0 Chance from UCF was so frustrating. I still am not able to consistently hit 1.0 on my OEM controller the way I can on a Phob or B0xx when playing UCF Melee. However playing 1.03 I can consistently hit it on my OEM, which should be the goal.

  Although it is obvious why it's the case, I feel as though you should have explained in greater detail why the 2-frame dashback for UCF was equivalent to what the box can do for that context. Is it because you feel all professional melee players should have the capability to flick the control stick fast enough to reach the edge within two frames? Is that physical limitation that doesn't exist for the box? I will attempt to hold myself accountable, designing a patch that tries to make everyone, regardless of physical prowess, capable of performing all mechanical functions in melee is impossible. Some people just will not be able to play at the levels of physical intensity that melee requires. However, if a person with a slower physical hand movement speed is able to dash back on a box, when they would otherwise not be able to do so if they had to flick the control stick within two frames, could it not be said that there is still technically speaking, a disparity between the box and the gamecube controller in that one particular instance? Certainly something to think about, but I'm not educated enough on the topic to make a claim one way or another.

  I think that this implies that an additional pro of taking this route is that the game can be more cerebral than physical, which I think is dope, but like you're getting at, that's all incredibly difficult to quantify.

  literally every other fighting game community accepted leverless controllers and moved on, but melee people want to play with sticks and stones, because "b0xx is cheating and p2w" while simultaneously willing to buy custom controllers for 200-300$ because they don't have manufacturing flaws like oems. make it make sense

  Really hoping that these ideas become commonplace in SSBM, or slippi at the very least. The barrier of entry cost for consistent GCC inputs is frankly absurd for the average player. Rather than shaming players for picking a consistent controller, why not make controllers more consistent?

  any faulty mechanic present in the game should be fixed, not only for consistency sake but also for the sake of competition, people that can't afford those expensive controllers should still have access to those mechanics without struggling too much

  1.03 should be the standard, GCCs should be brought up to the level of the b0xx but what about other digital controllers? i dont think any other digital controller devs are nerfing them in the same manner as the b0xx. also the ucf toggle in slippi isnt the way to show ppl that the mechanics are faulty its just going to cause more confusion.

  I've been saying this for a while: that nerfology concept has been weak from the very beginning. It's lowkey the culmination of how we grow as people, but in even something like Ultimate's patch notes, nerfs are the primary caregiver over buffs. We complain the B0XX allows for things that a gamecube controller can't do, but disregard how it's generally due to the factor of untold luck. You know exactly what to do to get a controller to do what you want, but will it react in the way you want it to? Often times, I think people are so pressed about having a "difficult vanilla" game that it ruins their perspective on what a good fight could like in said vanilla game. And absolutely, I will argue with anyone that nerfology killed both Sm4sh and Ultimate's high peak as it would relate back to Melee's current issue. When you argue whether or not Ultimate's alive right now, you can't seriously tell me it'd be less alive if these characters were more fun in a better competitive way. Has nothing to do with Melee directly, but that same ideology has actually fallen into our controllers. These communities are still one in the same, but at different ages; even an adult is going to be a child about something they don't think logically on. I just remember back to how this controller was made for the idea of ergonomics and comfort, and it has blown up into a disconnection with the issues that fell in between. Why is it that we complained about the b0xx being too strong, to then complain about the gamecube controller when it got buffed? I get it, we fear change, but damn, someone has to break this barrier eventually. Melee's already a tough game even if you pile two decades of experience on: it feels very weird to be upset about more consistent inputs. Can we just swallow our pride and realize that the actual combat can get more intense when everything is being accurately inputted?

  We played ssf2 on keyboard for years and understood how easy shield drop and dash cancelling is and how difficult it is to play on a controller. Given the engine of the game, it isn't possible for controllers to be better but for melee it should be looked at. Hell, I remember seeing a rivals in person tournament using an arcade stick with keyboard buttons instead of a controller. A good controller with solid software literally makes a difference.

  @@CarbonMalite There’s one fundamental difference between the two, and that is a joystick being replaced by six buttons, It’s a dynamic that most people use to push an agenda about consistency mostly, but there’s a lot more to it. There are several angles that we humanly fail to master, but nonetheless, these are exclusive to a joystick. The pros of a b0xx involve the specific angles you can hit, those of which you do not have to hold at a specific angle to achieve. It’s a fundamental difference for sure, but I think people downplay the true benefits you receive with a controller. I’ve experienced this specific barrier in Rivals at one point too. It’s the best game to explain it, as they popularized accepting both controller, b0xx and keyboard. Tho ig b0xx is dozens rarer, ofc I think it’s okay though, truly.

  @@AL-lh2ht Although the Hax ban was justified, the time Hax spent being banned wasn't. He already served his time, and yet the TOs aren't being fair to him. It's one of the TO's fault that Hax wasn't given a response to his private DMs, forcing him to make the public video and breaking the rule of not making public video. If you cannot see that both sides are doing wrong, then I don't know what to tell you.
