  ive got kind oif a theory about smoking popes. the lightning at their venues (at least the youtube videos) never fit their sound. they were a darker more death cab vibe and just needed plain black with white lights on them. weird observation but anyway, the popes always sounded great!

  Nerves. When 1 person, say the drummer, is anxiuos; they can tend to start the tempo a little too quickly and the rest of the song ends up being like that

  this was my 4th time being fortune enough to see Pinback in the Chi. My first time being @ the Hideout block party; essentially a parking lot, 5 people, a couple stages and lots of rain. Would gladly watch them play in a blizzard.

  Lead singer seems shitty, people are jumping off the stage, yet as soon as they get up there he's urging them to get off, even as they're about to jump. You want people to like you? Include the crowd in your stuff, don't push them back to make room for your stomping and hair flips.

  I think he was trying to keep people moving. There wasn't much room up on stage and people were constantly climbing up. I think he was just making room. He doesn't seem like a douche in any of their other videos

  wow i used to listen to born to quit on cassette like, whenever it came out in the 90s. we wore that gotdam tape out till the ribbon snapped while playing. interesting to see them now so much older. looks like eli is finally bald like the other 2 brothers , haha
