    I have an old Ruger 1022, it was pretty neat and the metal was all worn, I cleaned it up good and tried some cold blue, just to try and make it look better, after multiple coats, and light steel wool in between it just wasn’t turning black and just looked bad, no matter what I did, so I decided to do some spray paint, sounds weird but just wanted to know if that’s normal for old guns like that to not accept blue good

  • @WildMountainGarage
    @WildMountainGarage7 күн бұрын

    I'm not an expert on blueing but metal is porous to some degree and perhaps there's decades of oil buildup. Maybe hot bluing would work better. If it's not a super nice gun ain't nothing wrong with a rattle can paint job. If it is nice, maybe cerakote/duracoat will be an option.

    So you didn't change the timing belt or the valley pan gasket. How old is the timing belt? Or how many miles? If you're planning on changing the timing belt on these, it's probably the easiest V6 timing belt job there is. You literally don't need any special tools. Just pull the crankshaft pulley off instead of taking off the crankshaft pulley bolt. Just be careful not to strip out the hex bolts.You don't even need cam holding tools as long as you mark the position and don't move them. Be sure to slap in a new Audi thermostat and belt tensioner and pulley, and do a quick pressure test to make sure the heater hoses under the cowl aren't leaking. Probably the previous owner saw some coolant needing replacing and decided it was the head gasket without doing any actual tests.

    Great info. It was low on compression so I just reassembled and sold to an Audi enthusiast who's putting a different engine in. Needed some cash. Sad to see it go.

  • @mediocreman2
    @mediocreman210 күн бұрын

    I'm confused why you would pull the engine without checking the valley pan gasket. 99% of the time that's where oil leaks are coming from. I'd recommend getting on the Quattro World forums so you don't have to do so much extra work.

    The wood is real. The rear antenna is the radio antenna and telephone antenna, not just telephone antenna. Why would you call it a German piece of junk when it has 330,000 miles (Most likely on the original engine and transmission), and is in great shape and is only $600?

    Hey bud, great video! looking for a model number for the RC control arms you put on?? What size lift do you have?

  • @WildMountainGarage
    @WildMountainGarage20 күн бұрын

    Thanks. I don't see the same arms on the rc site anymore, I'm only seeing arms for a 3-4 inch lift. Maybe a distributor still has them. They're for a 2" lift/level, which is what I have with different keys.

    All owners with this error need to file a complaint against Chevy for the MANUFACTURERS DEFECT because the defective coolant reservoir tank causes this issue by not permitting the top of the tank to flow down to the bottom of the tank where the sensor is.

  • @WildMountainGarage

    100% recall worthy. Took me adding coolant into the return line port to fill it to get the new one to stop complaining.

    @@WildMountainGarage I used a long, thin drill bit to core a hole from the top to the bottom tank. While it now drains from the top to the bottom tank and SHAZAM the coolant flowed from the top to the bottom of the tank where the sensor is. MANUFACTURER DEFECT 100%! Chevy wanted $675 (just for the tank and sensor) to resolve their DEFECTIVE.

    Audi never build better cars between the late 80`s and mid90`s. I had a Audi 80 and a 100 during that time. Never had such good and solid cars ever since. The rust prevention is the best, even 25, 30 years or oder older cars are usually almost rostfree if they have been treaten with a minimum of care.

    Just came across this post and you have a great truck. I will always have an eight foot bed on my truck. One way to beef up a net is to lace some 3 strand line through it to take up the stretch, do it horizontal and vertical if necessary. An extendable boat hook is also handy for retrieving items in the bed. I remember when trucks came standard with eight foot beds, boy time is flying. Good post.Thanks!👍⚡️

    Hi, how was it towing without side windows on the topper, visibility wise?

  • @WildMountainGarage
    @WildMountainGarage4 ай бұрын

    It's fine. I've towed back and forth across the county and it didn't affect me. Tow mirrors are all I ever look at and side windows on the topper wouldn't add much, if any, visibility out the rear window. Plus, extra space to haul in the bed. Your rear view mirror visibility will be lesser as the rear zip in the window can get dirty and hard to see through, but again, tow mirrors are more than enough.
