    I have a lot to figure out.Getting it set up is #1, but I should be good and flush soon to go further some more, Ha! More than determined to see this work, I want to make it hum. Bit of a challenge from refractors, more of a challenge with the clouds 🤨

    Hi - if you have triangular stars then it is likely the mirror clips are too tight. After fitting a mirror mask on my SW 150 I ended up with a small gap so no pressure at all. For fine collimation I found a tri-bahtinov mask a lot easier than say star testing. You line it up with the primary mirror screws which you adjust to centre all 3 patterns (on a bright star). Only takes a few minutes for perfect collimation. Your guiding sounds phenomenal. Good luck with it!

    Thanks Ray, I had tracked it down to pinched optics with a little internet research, removed my primary loosened my primary mirror clips, then re tightened to a lesser degree and reassembled earlier today. I havent been able to test yet. I shall def look into the tri batinov masks. Much appreciated!

    Hello, I have a startravel 150 F5, any ideas if the Svbony field flattener/reducer for the 102mm refractor will work on my scope?

    I wish I could give you a better answer Julie, But I have no real idea if that would work. My best advice would be to try and find someone with one who might let you test it on your telescope. Sorry I couldnt help. really wish I had the answer. If it does end up working could you let me know for future reference. best wishes!

    They look good and very clean to me. Congrats. I will most probbaly use that camera in a couple months on my Samyang 135mm f/2..wondering what it will bring. Thanks for posting your pics. How much integration time did you have for them?shirt exposures or 2-3 minutes each?

    Almost every capture here is 225 gain at 127 seconds, shot & stacked. and most are between 1 hr and 3 hrs total integration. The differences are seeing for the most part.

    I'm really thinking about buying that jewel of an astrocam... heard only good things about it. So, by now have you taken some nice DSO images and could you please post them. Thank you.

    I certainly have captured some gems in the limited clear skies I've had since buying this cam. I'm having an issue finding a movie maker I can edit and insert pictures ATM. Saying that it's a good enough reason to redouble my efforts! If all else fails I'll post you an Twitter link to pictures I have posted there.

    Astronomy tools projected my Guide ratio at 1:4.9 so I was going from 1:3 to 1:4 but lo and behold I sat at between .57 and .86 RMS! and really had no guiding issues other than cloud. This is a good thing! The Player one also reduced my overall 1.98arc second resolution down to 1.5 arc second resolution with the field increase, not 100% but still better. Again bear with me on the posting of astro results I'm still trying to find a way to introduce them into a video in between everything else. Thanks for watching! hit like and subscribe if I've been helpful, amusing or so bad I need a rotten tomato award.

    Hi Kevin, Yes I did compare dark frames and long exposure noise at 127 sec 132 gain and 32 offset and as advertised by the builder, my Darks had less hot pixels & looked smoother, and overall my longer exposures seemed to contain more detail when using the passive system. I still ended up with amp glow from a planetary doing long exposures. but my calibrations seemed less noisy and more stable for stacking with the fan running. Overall I believe you get what Rouz astro says it does. Clear Skies and dark nights!

    Hi bortle 6, the filter drawer sounds like a great budget buy. How is it shaping up? I have the Skywatcher Quattro 150 which is a great budget scope. It comes with a fantastic coma corrector as well. Clear skies!

    I've got to say it was a fantastic addition to my nights, really easy to work with and the best part is I get to use all my filters again! I haven't noticed any drawbacks or faults. very smooth interchange, back focus isn't hard to reach, nice finish. All in all well worth the price. I just added a Uranus C pro to my life and cant wait to hook it up to the drawer and see where we are! Really happy with my purchase. Clear Skies Ray!

    Hi , thanks for the video. A question about condensation. How to you prevent it from getting on/inside the camera? Every consider putting a SilcaGel bag inside the OTA near the camera, and then remove it once the camera has gotten to temp?

  • @Bortle-6-Astrophotography
    @Bortle-6-Astrophotography8 ай бұрын

    I used the ASI 385mc which is a sealed camera. no chance for cond. as long as I never open it or add a peltier. At current passive cooling it has never condensated but def gets cooler than ambient temp. A peltier could get the metal cold enough to condensate on the inside even being sealed with the greater temp and frosting of aluminum.. The cold cameras are built inside a sealed body chambers specifically built to withstand this chance, the 385 is def not built that way. The silica in the ota is a great idea though, especially after the last "Summer" we had.

    What temps are you getting?

  • @Bortle-6-Astrophotography
    @Bortle-6-Astrophotography Жыл бұрын

    about 10 degrees below ambient temp. which is what the builder said was average. It's noticeable in my frames during stacking. still asi noisy, but definitely lesser than pre-cooler.
