I drove for Gordon Fast Freight, 1982, and GTI until layed off by Heartless Express in February of 2017. Miss the Gordon’s and my dispatchers Lonnie Mangus, Buck Shultz and John Miller.
They didn’t have the bulldog in front, but even as they resembled the 50s-70s Freightliner, the Mack G Series was a bulldog in its own right.

Freightliner should never have discontinued the Century Class or the Columbia. Simply put, they were great trucks.

Loved by fleets and first responders, everywhere (thanks to their high resale value)! You’ll always find one, no matter where you go.

In the U.S., at one time, UD worked briefly with Navistar International to produce a new lineup of medium-duty cabover trucks to replace the legendary Cargostar in February 1986, when IHC became Navistar. I seem to forget what the models were called, though.

As the direct replacement for the legendary PayStar, the International HX plays an important role in the construction industry in a big way.

Navistar should never have discontinued the TerraStar. They were the lightest of the lineup. I have a Matchbox version of the ambulance.

Volvo should never have discontinued the VT 880. Not only did it have the performance and comfort, but it also had the best of both worlds, safety with style.

The 9200 and 9400 had the efficiency, but it was the long nose 9300 that had the style, especially the Eagle version.

Only Volvo can build the strongest, most fuel efficient, and most importantly, the safest big rigs on the highway.

Bowing to the fact they were exclusive to Canada, although very few of them have now relocated to the U.S., the styling of Hayes trucks looked so familiar, some looked so much like Kenworth, while most others were spin-offs of Mack F-Series and even a Peterbilt 352. Pity they went belly up after 1975.

I had forgot about the freight liner classic trucks. The senior long term drivers got those to set them aside from the rest of the come and go line drivers. I quit the same month the Vaughn Gordon was killed in a car accident in California. “Buster” was a good dude.
