    You cannot just use the joint compound without diluting the material. Your hopper will clog and won't spray out the tip. It looks like the material you are using is even a little too thick!

  • @handydandyhomes

    I have 2x4s with a pan liner, diamond mesh and than mortar, If you are talking about not using a pan liner. You absolutely can not build a curb without the liner unless you use a foam system, and at that point you don't need the mortar either.

    Wish you had laid down the tile in our master bathroom! Beautiful tile.They didn’t stagger, and gc project mgr who was “supervising” (use term loosely) didn’t notice. I walked in and noticed immediately; at that point, however, everything was already installed - and removing it was likely to cause collateral damage as well as destroy all the floor tile, of course.

    Awesome video. What kind of edge trim did you use for this glass tile? 2.) did you leave a space between the glass tile and the edge trim? If so did you fill it with silicon considering it's an outside perimeter ? Thank you

  • @handydandyhomes
    @handydandyhomes9 ай бұрын

    Yes, leave a 1/8 gap anywhere glass will butt up to another surface or material, glass expends more than any other material I'm aware of. Any change of plane use silicone it what is recommended in the tcna. When people say you don't have to use silicone they are just cheap because the cost is about double.

    I’m doing a job VERY similar to this with 4x12 glass. 1) How did you make the U cuts around the outlets? 2) why does the wall need to be so flat? Reflections? 3) where did you get the thin tile levelers?

  • @handydandyhomes
    @handydandyhomes Жыл бұрын

    1)to make the u cuts you must have a motorized wet saw. 2) flat wall will help with install and if the thinset is uneven behind the tile, the thinset can dry at different rates and crack the tile . 3) I bought them at homedepot. this was my first tile job so I used the levelers and after this job I went without.

    Awesome job! I have installed similar cabinets and I'm going to also use 3 x12 glass tile . First time using glass and I wanted to know how did you cut around the outlets.. I've been told you need to round off the inside corner and I need some tips.

  • @handydandyhomes
    @handydandyhomes Жыл бұрын

    I have read that as well. also read L shapes and U shapes you should avoid, I did both because I warranty my work so if it fails I will know personally not what someone said, I took the chance for the sake of a super clean look, I used a wet saw. be careful and use a mat if you cut face down, glass tile scratches so easy also the thinset will scratch the tile if you get if on the face so be careful and keep the tile clean at all times . this was the case with the tile I dealt with .

  • @handydandyhomes
