Very interesting and really great overview of the wheels Tommo.
i wish the guy that sold my boat had done this, might have stopped the wheel comming of on collection day , so a usefull vid
I have had that too, I don't need the hassle as I'm sure you didn't
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating no its not sorted now either still one complete hub to renew , brake assembly on damaged side to renew then check the braking system itself , just used as a launch trolley when i ever launch it
@mutley192 luckily parts are easily available and it's worth the hassle for the boat, I always fancied a skipper 17 or eagle but never sailed one
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating haha neither have i yet and ive had the boat since end april
I use hammerite, does the job well, they still look good after a couple of seasons :)
@@ChrisGetsOut my dad uses a specialised bbq paint and that lasts ages. However I had the hammerite already, I agree it will be ok
Good work on the trailer. Brakes and salt water hate each other and need the regular attention you give them to stay safe.
Thanks Phil, I'm supposed to be in Mylor next week with it
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating Brilliant, hope all goes well and the weather is kind. Perhaps we'll get to see that fishing rod in use and a catch and cook - mackerel are around.
Yeah I need to do my drum breaks. They look like they’ve been hit by a hammer a few too many times!
I don't think you have to tow far but I'm 55 miles from Christchurch and I'm supposed to be going to Cornwall next week, so I need them good
That’s a great solution Tommo, and will definitely get you out of trouble 🙏🛥️
@@BoatzUK 🤞
Nice one FT. Simple and effective.
@@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches thanks Dave, hope you are ok
Audio is much better with that new mic 10/10 👍 Great little bracket for the 2hp 👍
@@Budgee197 I still don't like listening to my breathing lol
🤣 hahaha 🤣 Same!!!!! 🫣
if it works its a great idea
@@mutley192 thanks
There's just a certain charm about a 2 stroke, I love the noise they make, not for too long though!!! I would love to know how fast it can push the Shakespear. Does it get her up to hull speed?
@SailingWithDave I was given that 2hp by a neighbour at least 25 years ago. It's like an old friend now 🫣 It will push the boat at about 3 to 4 kts without tide
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating Perfect. I have an old 3.3hp one I did up and its brilliant. As long as you don;t leave the mixed fuel in it for too long it starts up 1st time and takes like 30 minutes to service!!
Nice one Tommo, I guess you lock the little outboard in straight line and steer using stern drive from helm? That's how I set things up steering with my main and powering with the auxiliary outboard.
@anotherangleUK yes that's it, I should have said that lol
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating I had one of those 3.3 Mariner two strokes in the past and it was bomb proof.
I love it, your montage videos are also cool. I make videos that are the American version of yours
@BoatMan_ thanks, I will check yours out
Nice solution, does the job :)
@@ChrisGetsOut yes it does and I haven't had to use it either, which is good
Excellent Video Tomo. You certainly have access to a lovely boating area. Does your good lady ever come out in the boat with you
@boatingsibbingandwandering3262 my wife and kids have not been on the boat since 2018, they used to be out most weekends but have no interest now unfortunately
There is a cheeky gravel bar off the bottom of this one.
@Cous1nJack the gravel is from lazy people driving boats onto the trailer the prop wash has dug a hole immediately at the slipway then humped it up a bit further out. Luckily it's only an issue if the tide is low
Get a voice over done Tommo, get out of your comfort zone 🤣
@@BoatzUK I can't do voice overs exactly with the free software I use on my phone. I have to record it then add it to the video, I can't do it as I watch the video, which would be the best way
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating I use movavi and you can do it on that and there’s lots of other free editing software you can use like Openshot
VERY NICE I AM FROM HUDDERSFIELD WEST YORKSHIRE 😀 👍
Those dives off the boat are becoming your trade mark!! Was that another shakespear in the back ground at 02:50? Lovely spot though, I really love it down that way.
I meant to ask, was it a neap or spring tide on this video?
@@SailingWithDaveit was a Cranchi 24 in the background, slightly bigger than mine. It was nearer to neap tides than Springs
Nice! I need to run out there!
Yes, you do 😊
Really interesting illustration of the current and tide near the needles, thanks for showing that. Useful knowledge for a new boater :)
@@weaversseventythree no problem. I am thinking of doing a video specifically about the local tides and sea effects at some point

Looked nice weather for a change. Very pleasant way to spend the day - but I bet the water was cold 🥶
@@anotherangleUK the weather was better early in the morning, as the day went on it got cloudier and the wind built. Water isn't too bad, about 16 degrees at the moment

Tommo great stuff, only just noticed this video, great stuff and good to see some maintenance going on 🙏🛥️🛥️
Good maintenance work there Tommo. I usually add a little gasket sealer as a insurance to prevent leaks.
Wow that brings back some memories the very first campsite I ever camped on and that was 50 odd years ago . We used to go canoeing on the river back then
Hello mate, do you have to pay for the trailer? Thanks
@alifamily4509 there is a free trailer park and you can leave trailers on the grass around the edge of the car park. Technically on the grass you are meant to buy two tickets for the car, but this can never be enforced if the trailer doesn't have your number plate on 🤫
Thank you mate, your info on the slipways are very helpful 👍
@alifamily4509 no probs, I'm hoping to upload more soon. I regularly launch on this slipway, so keep your eye open for me

Is that mayors mead you are launching from? Where do you put your board after launching while you park and sort your trailer? Are you just grounding it at the side of the slip?
@yanafloat yes it is. Depending on the conditions, I either just leave it tied to one of the concrete posts, sometimes grounded, sometimes not or I put an anchor out to keep it floating and tie it to one of the posts too.
Oh!! So thats who has all the sun right now!! None up here!!! Boat is easy to launch.

I am definitely boating in the wrong area!! :)
To be fair, I have never really been to your neck of the woods, so I can't compare
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating Well I wouldn't necessarily think about swimming in the water unless I wanted to chew on something 'man made' :) lol

That was unfortunate to find the old mooring ground tackle. You've made a good repair job - should be just fine and hardly noticeable. Hopefully you got out on the water.

Was super windy up here over the weekend. Blowing 50mph+ around Anglesey on Saturday so conditions would have been super rough!! No shame in ducking out in my opinion! Wind has mostly been Northerlies up here too, so cold and nasty and no good for sailing really, unless in a big boat. Just wiating for the weather to change!!! Cover looking good anyway tommo. A lot of room under there.
Thanks Dave. I didn't go and look at a lugger in the end, decided I don't need the hassle changing anything at the moment. Maybe next season 🤪

Weather was a bit windy.. we went up the harbour today, popped outside to have a look and came back in again where it was calm😂
I thought it would be like that.
Some good ideas to make 'living' aboard a bit easier. Don't blame you not going out if the weather is poor. It's all about enjoying being out on the water.
I was also careful with money. Because my work has been quiet. But I earned more money in 4 days last week than I earned in whole month before, so things are looking up now. 🫣

@@fat_tommo_goes_boating Oh really? well it will be a bit slower than the shakespear but a lot of fun to sail.
@SailingWithDave yes I know it would be. I might go and get my laser 16 back, it's currently with a mate in Cornwall sailing around Falmouth.
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating That Laser 16 is a decent boat. A lot faster than the Lugger and self draining too. WOuld you be able to right her if capsized? The Lugger I think I could but she would be swamped.
@SailingWithDave no, I can't right her, it's a case of reef early and be very cautious. But the lugger would motor better and is deeper inside
