The worst part of the entire tragedy was that NASA was told time and time again that if they kept flying at this rate, something tragic would happen. They were told that the O-rings weren't designed to withstand below-freezing temperatures and like always, the big wigs never listen to engineers. I spent 20 years in the military and later in my career, it was always do more with less. Less people and less money.

For the poster and everyone interested; This problem was politically created trying to be PC (what they call WOKE now). NASA was ordered to 'go green' and not pollute the environment and to do business with Women and minority owned small businesses whenever possible and to default to them if the cost were less than 40% more of what they usually would pay. Anyhoo, a bid came in from a woman-owned business for SOFI (Spray On Foam Insulation), it's similar to Great Stuff only non -flammable. Despite having no aeronautical experience in any of their employees nor having ever supplied SOFI to anything for any company, they were given the contract! A big plus was that their formula was also GREEN (clarifying, NOT GREEN in color but GREEN as in not containing ingredients that were toxic) and totally Eco-friendly and did not contain the highly toxic chemicals of other SOFI products. So politics/PC gave it to them which was hugely wrong to put an UNTESTED SOFI on a vehicle that would travel at 35,000 mph in vacuum, extreme cold, extreme G forces, extreme vibration that would shake off anything not stuck on very well and very extreme heat. Both NASA and the women-owned SOFI company were blatantly at fault! Because there had been GREEN SOFI pieces fall off on previous missions but lt did not address it so as not to be seen as sexist or racist or non-PC in any way. No prelaunch tests were made on the new GREEN SOFI! So, they spray this GREEN SOFI stuff on in multiple layers to get the correct thickness. Which is unlike the tiles that are ceramic and usually riveted or bolted on some are just glued on. It is quite common to lose scores or even over 100s of tiles during reentry. Anyhoo, launch day comes and Columbia goes into orbit. The large piece of GREEN SOFI was seen by NASA launch control but THAT INFORMATION WAS DELIBERATELY WITHHELD FROM THE ASTRONAUTS!!!! Kinda defeats the purpose of having Mission Control monitor everything even your P when they keep the crew ignorant of a dangerous situation. The reentry is starting and there is video from inside where a newbie is remarking about the large orange flame out the left window. The experienced astronaut tells her, "yeah, you definitely don't want to be outside now!" The video ends a few seconds later sparing us their gruesome deaths. Methinks that all the 10s of thousands of pieces from the shuttle (many of them extremely toxic) polluted the Earth a lot more than the actual good non-GREEN SOFI that, you know, actually worked and stayed on instead of falling off. The incompetence of this should have landed some NASA execs and some of the woman-owned SOFI business in prison but typically, unless it helps politicians, things like this are hushed up and just not mentioned. One excuse NASA tried to get to hold water was that they defended themselves not telling the crew that there was a lot of foam that fell off and one large piece hit the left wing near the cabin fuselage because, "there was nothing the astronauts could do to repair it". Lame excuse, they should be ashamed! The entire compliment of NASA astronauts demanded this change or they would not fly any more missions! Gutsy! NASA also came up with a way for the astronauts to repair minor to moderate foam loss with something called NOAX (Non-oxide experimental adhesive) that is applied with something like a caulking gun while in space. Big pieces like the one lost on Challenger could be created out of preformed SOFI blocks, they would have to be carved to match as closely as they could to the hole and glued into position with NOAX. The fit would not be accurate at all but it was something. NASA quietly changed their SOFI vendor to one of those evil male-owned aeronautical corporations and their non-GREEN SOFI that actually, you know, worked. The emphasis to only using professional corporations that had aeronautical expertise and a product that actually functioned and that was actually thoroughly tested was made the first priority as it always should have been. PC considerations cost the lives of 7 awesome people. Their horribly burned unrecognizable bodies were all found. The gruesome images were not released. WOKE is doing the same now with Biden appointing people that are totally unqualified and have no experience whatsoever for the critical jobs they are given. He put emphasis on women and minorities and lgbtqia+ over experience and expertise when he appoints people in very high positions, almost every one of them is female or minority AND lgbtqia+. These departments are devoid of qualified people. That's why the country is a mess. The majority democrats do nothing when he makes these critical appointments. I could go on and on about it. No hate, not anti-lgbtqia+ just pro experience and knowledge. And no, I'm not a Trumper either.

I was at work preparing handlettered place cards for an open house that evening. I was hurrying a bit to be done in time to go home and shower, change clothes, and return on public transportation. Just after I decided I’d have to take a cab to be sure I was there on time, a colleague came in and told me what happened. The open house was postponed, so I finished up at a leisurely pace. I went home and stopped in at church to pray for their souls and light seven candles.

THERE IS A BETTER WAY !>>>>>>>> US Military 69 to 93, Aircrew Survival Tech (ALSS ) USN 79 to 93 / Crash Rescue USAF 69 to 77, Vet and Aviation and UAP buff since 1964! Space Shuttle Disasters ! ( WHY ? ) ??? #1. Cost Cutting ! #2. Should have had an F-111 Ejection Pod on Challenger and all Shuttles, but NASA they rejected it Crew Expendable ?! #3. Should have had a protective shield on the complete bottom of the shuttle on departure ( Blast off ) ! #4. They should have had a satellite photo taken of the underbody of Columbia but did not do it ( was an option ) ! #5. That foam cover on the big Orange Liq / Hydron fuel tank should have been on the inside! #6 Friction Breaks on the bottom of the shuttle! #7 Better design of the heat tiles ! #8. Re-entry glide needs to be different maybe like Space X with Retro rockets to reduce entry speed!..... What they do in space does not translate to helping mankind on Earth, Name one that we can afford ? Only driving up the cost of whatever is discovered within earth orbit ( Play Time for them )! That money should go into research to investigate all the UAPs / UFOs that have been seen all over the world you years and hidden by NASA and MJ-12 and non-believers defying gravity ( Tic Tac ), Go Fast, Gimble UAPs and all the sightings before and after Roswell ! Stop using Rockets' liquid and solid fuels and find out why UAP's escape gravity at will !..........Just Saying,...... old-world B.S. doesn't work anymore, there is a better way but the Electric, Coal, Nuke, Oil Compaines would lose their stranglehold on us dummies! ......Ref to Dr. Steven Greer / and Micheal Schartt ! ......Free Zreo Point Engery Mr. Tesla knew ! We are being held captive, Many inventions such as the real Tesla, The guy that made a car engine run on water, and one that made a car run on gas fumes, all came up dead ! ?????? ......We can do better, it's all about the green backs into their pocket $$$$$$$ for them, not us !
