My go to rome DEI comp is 4 cav, 12 principes, 4 levies. Replace with local units as you have to merge units. No early game enemy can beat that comp straight up. Even a 20 stack in a walled city. Principles are just too good. Run your 12 principes right into their front line, flank with cav/levies and crash into their backside. Hammer and Anvil.

In teh first battle, its not that your cav is bad. But most jav units in this DLC campaign have spears as meele weapons. So you cant really just charge them and forget about it. You have to try and surround them with two units to break them faster amd with less casualties.
@ATotalHardcorePlayer2 ай бұрын
Nah the Equites is bad, I judge them by their stats. They have very weak melee stats and only 28 armour, very low for a 1st class cavalry unit. Rome's weakness is cavalry and they have to use aux or merc to fill that role.
@rodricuhtredson4132 ай бұрын
@@ATotalHardcorePlayer Ah, the equites are bad. But my point was more about the sturdiness of the javelin units. Even the heavy auxiliary cav take damage from them in prolonged melee. Because of their weapons and also because the units are larger (200 men) than most of GC ones (175 men). So they take more time to break. Slingers are still vulnerable and sword units are very vulnerable to cav tho
