  Does nailing it like that even have any holding power? I imagine nails firing into chip board like that have even less grabbing power than if they were shot into end grain of solid wood.

  Nope, not much holding power, we threw the glue to it on the bottom side, we just used the nails because we don't have any clamps long enough.

  They're all electronically connected. And, also, the drive wheels are actually powered by electric motors, so because the actual diesel engines aren't connected to the wheels mechanically, it makes them all pulling in sync electrically controlled, not mechanically.
