The Melon Bros

The Melon Bros

Welcome to the The Melon Bros 🍉.

I started this channel with my brother to show what we do on our family farm where we specialize in melons but also grow some vegetables as well. Our farm is located in California on 46 acres you will mainly see my brother(Jesse) and myself (Damian) but my also see some of our other family like our dad, mom, sisters, or uncle through some of the videos.

My goal of this channel is to show people what it takes to be a farmer and the ups and downs farmers go through to produce all these types of fruits and vegetables for consumers. Since many people do not really know what it takes and the amount of work that goes into farming. We only work on our farm for roughly 6-7 months out of the year so we also may upload videos of our family when we are not working the farm and may be on vacation or visiting other family.

THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT OUR CHANNEL

    I that this video is probably over two years old but I am curious about the space between the rows. I heard you mentioned that the individual plants are twenty four inches on center. How about the row spacing.

  • @themelonbros

    From furrow to furrow they are 60 inches. The tops of our beds range from 32-35 inches.

    Is it a good idea to plant a new plant in the holes of where the old plants died before finding out why they died? And a good idea too is after you use the machine you first showed for planting, to wash off the dirt after each use to keep it clean for the next use to not spread anything that may of been in the dirt stuck on the machine?

    Be honest with us. You are melon experts, How do you know when a melon is ripe. I know you arent looking at the tendrils. I can snap off the vine with my finger . Thats how I know, I know you arent checking tendrils and white bottoms before you harvest. Go ahead tell us

  • @themelonbros
    @themelonbros Жыл бұрын

    We only look at the tendrils on watermelons. On melons it depends on what kind it is like cantaloupes you wait till they slip off the vine other melons you wait for the melon to turn a certain color.
