You look really young.
Hi so so glad to have found your Chanel. My son is so determined and shows the same enthusiasm you show as you talk about your life as a Paediatrician . whilst he is only 13 years old can you offer any support or advise as how me as a parent can get him more excited and encourage him to pursue this career . what books he should read, where he should start thinking of volunteering over the holidays when he gets older. I would appreciate any advise you can offer .
Amazing to hear he has such an interest in pediatrics! I recommend shadowing different doctors once he gets to high school and college years!! The exposure to the field can be really helpful before making final decisions! Usually children’s hospitals have lots of volunteer opportunities and is a great place to start looking! Hope that helps!! Best of luck to him!
What is the name of the post bacc program you enrolled in and the school it was apart of?
Unfortunately they changed the program since I was in it so the post bacc program doesn’t exist anymore!
i’m applying peds this cycle 🥰😍😍
YAY that is amazing! Best of luck to you, it is such a fun journey (and a wonderful career)!!

hi. loving your content. i have a question. are there solid foods that are more likely to cause the child to vomit? also, would you consider making a video about SIDS? I've heard that, while a lot is still unknown yet, there are certain things you should do and other things you should avoid.
Thank you for your kind words! There aren't foods that necessarily cause more vomiting however in children that are sensitive to certain textures they may have gagging and vomiting with textures that they dislike. This is usually child dependent and can vary greatly! Thank you for the video idea, I think that is a super important topic!
The reason why is because it can cause infant botulism. Which is a intestinal toxemia so basically spores of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum or related spicies are swallowed they temporarily colonize a infants large intestine and produces botulinum neurotoxin.
Great answer!!
I think it’s also important to note these spores cannot be killed by baking, cooking, or freezing! So even cooked honey isn’t safe :)
But WHYY
There’s some type of bacteria called clostridium found in honey. It can cause infant botulism
Why?
I do wish she included an explanation, but you can find a detailed answer to your question with a Google search. To sum it up, honey can expose baby to bacteria which can cause deadly infections. Best to avoid under 12mos of age.
@@familyoffour247 OK, but that’s what they said about peanut butter, until they did a 180 on that 😮
@@kayo5291 sure, they could make a 180 on anything. This is just what's recommended based on today's research.
That looks so good!!!!
It hit the spot!
that's so upsetting to hear that pediatricians get paid less than adult doctors like what the heck? they do the exact same job! you could even argue that pediatrics should be paid more because of all the unique challenges that come with younger patients :/
I totally agree! AND healthy kids leads to a population of healthy adults with less medical concerns! I will never understand the logic :-(
Tantrums video pls!! My sweet 19 mo is clearly struggling with trying so hard to communicate further than he is able 🥹
So common in toddlers, I love this idea for a video! Thank you!
Would love to hear about tantrums and toddler thought process more. My girl is 2.5 and has very advanced verbal skills, but the tantrums are still decently frequent. She is strong willed and when she says no she means it! I love that about her, but sometimes we just have to put our shoes on and go, or whatever. Funny thing that happened recently. Our son is 2 months old and I was changing his diaper. Sis was helping me. “Mommy, when I wore a diaper did I have a penis too?” 😂
Ah too funny 🤣 what a fun age! I’m going to work on a video on tantrums, thank you! For strong willed kids sometimes making things a game can be really helpful (ex. let’s put our shoes on before the shoe alligator comes and eats our shoes, or let’s see if we can say the whole alphabet before we’re done putting our shoes on). Distraction also helps at this age too!! Thanks for watching! :)
I want to try pediatrics but I’m really bad at speaking with people and especially having to counsel and comfort parents and families sounds scary 😢 I’m an introvert
It’s definitely something that takes time to perfect! There are lots of different parts of pediatrics some more involved with counseling families and parents than others!
@@theprimarypediatrician thank you for your response 🤍
Hi! How much nutritional training do paediatricians in the US receive? I’ve read according to surveys doctors have less than 20 hours in medical school and most of it is with regards to what’s going on at a cellular level, not overall health. I’m genuinely curious as well as concerned because paediatricians are often viewed as experts when the numbers say that’s not the case. Shouldn’t a registered paediatric dietician do that part? 😬
Love this question, thank you for your input! Although I can only speak for my own medical training, I did receive a great foundation on nutrition (both from a cellular standpoint and a health promotion standpoint). I will admit a large portion of my nutrition training I learned in my pediatric residency and through CME (continuing medical education) as nutrition is an particular interest of mine. The American Academy of Pediatrics lists nutrition as a crucial part of the well visit and should absolutely be touched on by a pediatrician. Pediatric dietitians are an amazing part of the medical team and are the absolute experts on nutrition. I refer patients to them frequently, especially when it is anything beyond the general counseling I do at well visits. Children with unique nutrition needs or health concerns should definitely follow with dietitian, too. Most pediatric gastroenterologist offices actually have dietitians there, so kids can see their pediatric doctors and dietitians all at the same time! Hope that helped address your question.
@@theprimarypediatrician This is such a wonderful answer
My question is why is it required by law
I don't think it's necessarily required by law, however we just want to make sure your baby is followed closely by a healthcare provider, especially while they are little to track their growth and development!
When I small, about 5 years old, I think, I had to have a minor surgery. Sometime after getting out of the OR, some adult asked me, _“So where did YOU get operated on?”_ I said, _“In the kitchen.”_ 👩🏻⚕️👨⚕️🔪🩸👦🏻 🛏️
Thanks you.
Kinda starts at 5:43 :)

I want to major in biochemistry:)
I wish you a good life and hope with you that your dreams will come true ❤
I majored in Biology in Undergrad! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story 😊
When is your next video? I am waiting..
Waiting for your next video .
Hi! First of all I'm really so glad that i found your channel it's such an honour to find a great pediatrician who really loves and appreciate his job❤️❤️ Then i would say that I'm 2nd year medical student i just started and being a pediatrician is one of the reasons i got to medic school. Your video inspired me and gived me a vision of what I want to become ❤️💓
ur very inspiring 💙 also i just wanna ask u how do i enhance my communication skills (esp w kids) since that its so important for pediatricians to be good at that?
That is a really good question! I think the biggest thing is practice! If you have friends or family members with children that's a great way to start! You get enough exposure to children that by the time you are fully trained as a Pediatrician you are completely fluent it communicating with babies, children and adolescents and their parents!
i work in a daycare so I can help you out. A pretty easy ice breaker is asking about their interests. For instance even though I'm 23, if I see a kid in my checkout (local homegoods store) has a Pokemon tshirt, that's a pretty easy "in". "Who's your favorite Pokemon?" And the discussion goes from there. I'd have you look up some Pokemon so you're able to give an honest answer back when the question is turned around on you.
so inspiring 💕 do an on-call vlog
So happy I’ve found your channel, I need some inspiration for pediatrics! I’m in my last year of med school and now I really have to decide and pediatrics is really the only specialty that interests me and that I see myself in. Especially because with children, once you cure them, they usually get to live a long, healthy life that is still ahead of them. Which is pretty cool, if you get to help them come to that.<3
loved this video as I'm pre-med right now! my favorite reason that you listed was being an advocate for children :)
Your love for pediatrics is clearly visible in your eyes and smile. Keep making a difference in the same way.❤ 😅 And hey, if you don't mind, could you please share your skincare regime as you got a whole different glow on your face? Thank you so much ✨👑
Thank you for your kind words, it means the world! I’d love to do a video about beauty products I love - thanks for the recommendation! :)
Thank you for this video! Have you finished your residency?
Thanks for watching! I finish this year - in about 9 months!
Please make a video on why pediatrics is the best career out there and why you love it so much!
It is in the works, thank you for your request!! :)

Hi, I'm thinking of going into pediatrics as well but I was thinking about if I decide to have children in the future. How is the work and family time balance as a pediatrician
That's a great idea for a future video, thank you!! :)
I am also a med student and my aim is to become pediatrician. But all the time people say that pediatrician are not payed that much they do not earn good money . You are doing pediatric residency please can u answer my question 🙂
That is true! Pediatrics tends to make less money than other fields of medicine, I actually talk about this in the video above. You may find watching the video helpful! Thanks for your comment :)
@@theprimarypediatrician then why did you choose this field??
@@Navjotkaur-oh2fg it’s not all about money . In medicine passion and compassion should be above the desire for money. There are many other jobs out there which are better to become rich.
@@Navjotkaur-oh2fg professions are more then just the wage. If you hate what you are doing but make a huge wage it’s not worth it. If you do something you love but still make a good wage it’s a great job.
Yes please do a video on why you went into pediatrics! Soon to be first year medical student here!
Thanks so much for your comment! That is one of my favorite things to talk about so I will definitely do that! :)

Wow thanks so much for sharing this. I am a senior in college and recently decided that I want to become a doctor, so this might be an option for me! Could you possibly share which post bacc program you did and where you went to medical school?
