I feel bad for Jason. Trusting Anna was a mistake that's gonna come back to haunt him. With anything else he could have trusted her, except when it comes to Valentin. And poor Jason. His speech about hearing the pain of his sons voices, and them asking why he didn't reach out or if he ever cared for them, that whole thing was mostly about Jake. Danny has been fine this whole time and has been pretty nonchalant about the whole thing since Jason's come back. He hasn't really seemed too hurt or bothered by him being gone. He's just happy to spend whatever time he can with Jason since he thinks his dad is "so cool". It's been Jake who's been hurt by Jason's absence the most. And Jason's noticed, and he's so heartbroken and devastated that he had to put his son through that. And now that Jake's decided to forgive him and let him in again, Jason NEVER wants to let him down again.

Jason should consider "better the devil you know" or think you know. Cates is a liar and Jason knows this, Anna is dealing from the weak hand of being lead by emotion, Jason needs a outside intervention, perhaps Spinelli. Copying the phone puts authenticity up for debate, but a headlining story of the blackmail and all the players would bring to light Cate's dirty dealings.
