how do you get the heirloom template
I love it. What an awesome idea to create. My mother in law was into geology for over 40 years and left her treasures to each of her children’s. Priceless memories!
How do you cover the spouses of the direct line? Another book! Thank you! Wonderful video.
Hi Ladies. I enjoyed your video. You say you havd templates i can use in my family history book. Where can i Get them please. Deb
Hello, which program do i have to use for doing this? Thank you
This software is no longer the same as it was. There doesn't seem to be a way to make these beautiful books any longer.
Wow! You ladies are amazing! I was searching for something else but this video accidentally popped up. I clicked on it and I'm glad I did. This is exactly the problem I'm having when it comes to writing my family history book. I can't thank you enough. You've helped me a lot. I have over 3000 people in my family tree stretching several generations. Many of them are notable in their own right. I was also thinking of adding an index at the back of the book to help locate individuals. Just one question: Can I also add copies or photos of my sources in the book, and where should I place them? Thanks
Do you have a video that shows how to set up Canva for the heirloom book?
Where do you purchase your templates for making a book
I loved this video. I have no artistic talents. I love this layout. Is there a template that I can use to create something like this? I tried looking at Canva but I apparently don't know what to search for.
Ran across your KZread in my search for a family history album program. You spoke of a class to build an album using the MyCanvas software program. Is this class still available?
Audio is very bad,, mic up better
two commas and an incomplete sentence.....ya I'd take advise from this wonker....not
Looking to make also a digital copy to include audio and video segments. This digital copy will be available to families to continue to add as their family grow. What’s your suggestion to go about it?
Love the tips especially about using newspaper clippings and telegrams as well as letters, and also the one ancestor, one story advice! I will definitely put this into practice.
Hey great video. Thanks for reaffirming what I was feeling. My research and notes are a book on their own and have taken up more time already than I expect to use writing the real deal. Lol. I was suprised to see there was no comments yet. You will get a big following if you keep doing this I think. You have good energy. Take care
Would you be able to do Norway?
Anything for Africa?
It seems like one of the primary audiences for a family history book is the descendant you hope will take an interest in pursuing the research further. So while I recognize and appreciate the necessity of an overview presented for those who have no interest or desire in doing family history research, it seems like there is a natural division to be made between an executive summary and a more detailed treatment that would provide detailed source material and references for those who want to know the basis for various claims being made.
What do you do with original materials after you have made electronic copies for use in the book? I understand the importance of creating electronic versions of all of the artifacts I've created, but after I've done it, I'm still reluctant to throw out the originals. I could try to find a library/family history center that would archive them, but I'm sure they have limits on how much they can store.
My grandparents wrote a lot of letters over 3 years of courtship.
My Aunt (92 yrs) and I just completed a book and are now looking for another project. Letters may be the way to go as I have lots of them from her. Thanks for the idea and the video explaining a way to go.
I like the ideas - I have a question concerning the blended tree chart. I need to add more boxes and am having trouble manuevering things on the page. Is there help out there in Canva on locking elements together and moving them around?
Hi Diane. In Canva you can “group” elements together and move them around. If you need help let me know and o can help you through a zoom meeting
Great information! Can you export a PNG file from Canva for printing somewhere else?
yes you can. just download it to your computer
@@danettetaylor OK - thanks!
Yes, how to start
Very useful
After purchasing your templates and making a book do you just print out pages? How do you make a book
Could you do a New France ancestors similar to your Scottish cover page?
very soon!
Would you be able to do some Canadian provinces ? Quebec, Ontario & Western provinces?
Absolutely!! Great idea
Danette, do you suggest have narrataives and photo identieif before making a page or makining a page as each chapter gets complete. Lynn, should final editing be done before starting with Heirloom>
Thanks so much Danette. Most thorough.
You do have an audience! Thank you for the tips - very helpful!
I need to do with this my Ancestry tree!
These books were beautiful. I created 2 versions several years go, family members ordered them and bought one of each. They were expensive, but worth it. Recently I found that our old books have been deleted and the new options are woefully short of the old format. Fewer embellishments, frames don't snap-to images, fliping and shadowing images are no longer supported...much harder to manipulate than the old version 😞
I agree Ronald. Not the same program. That's why we created Heirloom, done-for-you pages for your family history book. lynnpalermo.kartra.com/page/heirloom
Thank you for the tips! Learned a lot - can't wait to try some ideas you gave me.
You are so welcome!
Lynn ABD Thank you both for creating this series. Zt some point could you please have programs on how to write creatively for this type of vehicle. Susan Hart.
Ahhh, Susan I'm working on that now. Really ancestor profiles and short stories work best for an Heirloom book.
I think it is great that you are writing a book or novella. I will be glad to just get a paper done. But it will be a story to add to a completed scrapbook. My hole are being filled in.....computer on my left, documents on my right, notebook and story in dead center. My dining room table is completely covered, but i have made great progress this year and have learned many tips to help get this project complete!! Thank you.
Hated to miss the live last day, but i am listening now.
Pretty cool. Good job 👍
Hi - I am using your templates and am loving them. I look forward to watching your weekly presentations, as you always inspire me to keep going with my project. The pages of my book are looking so polished and professional, and it gives me more confidence to share them with family, as I produce various sections of the book.
Thank you Lynette!! Love to hear that feedback. We are working on a package of themed templates based around homeland countries of your ancestors. Watch for that coming soon.
Good grief. Technical difficulties which took out everyone's comments. See this one? Because it shows "0 comments"
In the comments space, there are postings many videos unrelated to this experience. I've signed off and on several times and get the same thing.
But I can see and hear Lynn.
It's a typical youtube screen with videos displayed.
I both wrote and organized
Sorry guys we lost the feed with one sprint left. Feel free to carry on but I'll see you tomorrow.
Nice to see you back
Great comment, Lynn. Thanks for giving your personal example. It's hard to cut things out, yet it feels so much better once we've let go and cut them out.
Good Morning from PEI... Stormy her on the Island. Great day for writing!
I'm in the same situation. I can see the comments in the chat box, but not anywhere to enter one,
Elaine the chat box is only available during the livestream.
@@LynnPalermo okay thanks, I thought I was, but guess I got my days mixed up!
Just discovered these videos. Love the teaching and the pace at which she teaches; however, I wish it was current. Scrivener was recently purchased and unfortunately, the items highlighted in the video are not the same or at least not in the same location in the current version.
Where is the chat box?
You must subscribe to the channel for the chat box to be available.
I'm subscribed but still can't see a chat box. I see a comments box under the video but there are not comments.
@@LynnPalermo I see there are three of us so far who are having the same situation. I can only see "Chat Replay" no place to enter something into a chat box.
I don't see the link for the PDF and Do not disturb sign?

The first thing on the checklist is....stabilize the camera.
On it.
Couldn't hear the video. Turned up my volume to 100% and made sure KZread was turned up but still couldn't hear hardly anything.
