sure enough! just have to have enough speed and hit the ability with the right timing and it'll trick the game into activating past the suppression trigger. :D

First, divert full power to SYS to boost power to shields, then switch to the fighter seat under the options tab on the center HUD. If you are unable to manually free the fighter then go to the right HUD screen, go under the ship tab and choose to activate the self destruct sequence. This will not kill you as you only control the fighter via remote telepresence from the safety of your main ship. If self destruct is not an option for the fighter, then re-log into the game. It should either reset the fighter's position or stow it in your fighter bay upon respawning in the world.

thanks for the tips! in this case, it was actually just a visual glitch and Zek, my guy in the fighter, had actually managed to launch. on my screen, however it refused to show him out there and just kept firing from the launch rack. XD
