    Long time since I have been on here, no action these days as you can gather. As to the whistle I thought first of all it was for me to move but later found out it was because the whistle was stuck, a regular occurrence at that time it seems, made me quite deaf for a minute or two. Hope you enjoyed the video, Pete

    Very enjoyable. It never ceases to amaze me how Swindon's products look so small compared to other companies engines...but they are certainly no less powerful! Why was a diesel on the end this time do you know?

  • @moormanpete

    Hi Arthur, Diesel attached for support if needed to my knowledge. Hemmerdon Bank sometimes creates problems so I assume they were taking no chances.

    I agree about the drivers but what a pity they didn't paint the station in GWR colours? They should paint the rolling stock in their own colours and label it 'B&WR'. That railmotor sounded like it was really struggling.

    Having seen a lot of departures all over Devon and elsewhere, I can say this was the most spectacular. By far. Maybe it was the damp conditions, - but the steam, smoke, people panicking, dogs barking, alarms going off & even someone ringing the fire brigade!! The week before Tornado departed, but it was nothing compared to this. One person does'nt like it. Perhaps they are from exeter?

  • @moormanpete

    Thanks for the comment Richard, pleased you enjoyed the clips. Perhaps the dislike was due to wind noise or being hand held, or just a troll, lots about these days......pete

    Judging by the darkness on its return to Plymouth, who/what took the stock & passengers after it arrived back to Plymouth?? Surely all those passengers have places they need to be for the following day

    о_О The third cylinder in the center of locomotive? Awesome locomotive :) If so, it seems that the angle between the positions of the connecting rods 30°, should be the locomotive has a fairly smooth ride.

    Great film as usual. I must say I have followed these trains for many years. The best 2 locations are DEPARTURE from Plymouth and Hemerdon. Maybe the filmers need 2... one at each location, then edit it after!

    Hi Richard, Pleased you enjoyed the clips, unfortunately had to have the dog with me so was filming hand held and with the light camera hence shakes and wind noise. Like your idea about combining shots, did a bit of that last year with my pal Baz, he now is too ill for traveling and filming so I am now back on my own and so far this year not much to show due to the lack of steam down here. Once again thanks for the comments....pete

    I got to Plymouth at about 5 looked at the Duchess on the middle road, then the Pz train came in...the Duchess slowly moved forward and the passengers got off rather bemused at the noise and steam. Someone said, if you wait a moment you will see it...and they did..and very impressed, standing right in front of the main entrance! I then went around the city...had a good look at Beckley (hooray), then returned to quite an epic noisy, smokey send off...again seen by a surprised departing Pz train and waiting Paddington train passengers. Great stuff!

    +Graham Ball Hi Graham, pleased you enjoyed the clip, the one at start (Saltash) was to be a view of the bridge crossing and then through the station being as the station platform was empty until around 7 mins before arrival when it suddenly filled with the public, had been reported on the local tv news apparently, I then had to move as view was obstructed unfortunately. North Road is a lot different now to what it was in the sixties, no post office bay any longer so can't late post letters the way we used to.Regards....pete

    I was wondering if someone had managed to film what must be the working of the year, well done! "Too many carriages" would have had nothing to do with it, it's taken the same load over there several times before at a cracking pace.

  • @moormanpete
    @moormanpete9 жыл бұрын

    +AndreiTupolev Sorry about the delay in replying Andrei, as you say she has done Hemerdon many times before so I think it was a combination of problems with possibly the engine and weather, we had heavy showers before the incident. Just a shame I was not further over to my right on the bridge but spots there were taken, also the track side undergrowth now seems to encroach further onto the track making the once just viewable bend now out of sight. Many thanks for your post.....pete
