    The easiest way to get out of the water is to bring the up body forward and push up. I often do that if the pool wall is much higher than the water surface

    I am on my second round of beginner lessons and yesterday was the first day I went to the deep end (9 ft). We did the wall crawl thing- I was visibly shaking and terrified. The instructor then had the students swim out from the wall to her. I just could NOT let go of the wall and felt like a complete failure. I wasn’t going back today but this made me realize I made the right decision as I am not even 30% comfortable in that deep of water. Today, we are expected to jump in and resurface. I’m going to go, but I am okay with not being ready for that.

    Standing ovation for taking good care of yourself. You are doing a great job taking care of your safety. What is one step you are ready for? You will know it's the right one if you can be calm while le doing it.

    Every other video says to blow bubbles. Now im so confused.

  • @adultswimlesson
    @adultswimlesson7 күн бұрын

    It can be confusing. The key is to understand why you are blowing bubbles, knowing it's ok to not blow them and how to manage your air with calm confidence.

    Thank you for taking the time to teach. I think the roll was a little exaggerated. Half the face should be in underwater😊

  • @adultswimlesson
    @adultswimlessonАй бұрын

    Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. If you are doing a front crawl stroke over time you do keep half your face in the water. But we like to make sure that people can get air easily by doing full roll overs then decrease as their confidence and skills increase. Meeting students where they are :)

    How do I relax in the pool. I do great in the water class, But in the swim lesson I can’t relax and learn What the coach is teaching . I have trauma I almost drowned as a child. I’m 64 I love water, but I’m having trouble learning to swim

  • @adultswimlesson
    @adultswimlesson2 ай бұрын

    Great question. This is really at the core of our teaching. We are able to relax (in life and the pool) when we know we are safe. In the water this means you can get air easily any time you want and you do not push yourself (or let a teacher push you) to leave calm. It's a system of breaking down the steps into smaller parts than you ever thought possible to rebuild trust and healing from the past trauma.
