We are Lucky8 Off-Road: North America's premier Land Rover Parts & Accessories retailer.

We provide both OEM and Aftermarket Land Rover Parts, in addition to our own custom designed, engineered and fabricated parts for modern Land Rover Vehicles. We started this business because we couldn't find quality parts & accessories that were good value. We are constantly testing EVERYTHING we sell to meet our obsessive standards. If we wouldn't use it on our own vehicles, we wont sell it to you, to put on yours.

On our channel we aim to provide instructional, informational and entertaining videos, all about driving Land Rover Vehicles off-road.

I had a deposit down for one and was invited to see it at Goodwood. It’s an interesting thing, but…. In the UK it will cost £185,000 and you can only have it in a few select colours. The First Edition only comes with lots of gold and carbon. Carbon on a Defender just feels very wrong. So I then thoughts I’d order a std edition car, thats only available in gold or grey, (but no carbon thankfully). In the end I decided that for this much money I want to be able to choose the options I want, so I’m out and have cancelled my order.

06 with 210k miles, towed 7,400lbs through mountains in 100 degree heat multiple times as well. Horse trailers, travel trailers, landscape trailers, etc. Replaced suspension, air compressor(s), about to replace my second HVAC blower motor, 2 alternators, a starter, water pump, tstat housing, etc - BUT that’s all to be expected, and none of it really surprised me. Love this thing. About to get a D5, 4th rover in a row.

Sure it’s impressive but not for overlanding with all the weight extra on roof rack. More for those who want speed on blacktop

JLR…… have me completely confused!!! Jaguar is going all electric with their cars…… but the electric car market is tanking!!! Land Rover has bought out the fastest Defender EVER??? And it’s a V8!!! Also I understand that JLR are having trouble sourcing aluminium to build their cars….. Yes buy the OCTA…..’cause it may be the last ever V8 Defender!!!! Regards Ian 👨‍🎤🇳🇿👍🍸🍸

Don’t second guess yourself Order the the Edition One full spectrum and later have your own off-road wheels & tires specifically for the trails. And if I were you I will install the PLUM roofrack & also the PLUM bush grill with the Brit made laser led lights. In it a mode it can race the Baja 1K… this Defender is “the paragon”

I’d say sit tight on this one. 175k+Tax and fees seems a bit of a stretch. In addition, it is so far out of reach for most people that from a business perspective it doesn’t make a lot of sense unless the plan is to duplicate parts to sell them. Outside of that, I am not sure losing two vehicles everyone follows you for and is the bread and butter of your content makes sense. I’d pivot with that money and broaden the audience with a new vehicle in addition to the Defender. I think in a few years some of the design elements will find their way into a next generation Defender. Now, if it’s for you personally , that’s a completely different thing. Buy what you want if it’s not breaking the bank.

Did you go with the 22 inch rims with road tires to obtain the highest Vmax? In speaking with the rep, if you order it with the 20 inch/off-road tires, the Vmax is program limited from factory and then you may be stuck with this.

Just hearing you talk about it I think you should 100% get one if you can. Something maybe to be aware of since the engine is a BMW unit. They had alot of trouble with burnt valve seals in those hot V TT V8's for awhile. I'm not sure if that has been rectified or not with the later generation motors. I was once told by the head mechanic at my local BMW dealership to never buy a TT V8 bmw and definitely not an X5. It wouldn't stop me if I had the means, just some food for thought.

Hydraulic suspension that sounds like a nightmare leaks and complications complexity off of warranty like the hydraulic lines on the old r149 Mercedes SL series

  • @ckaparos

The suspension are still air springs like any other defender but they deleted the anti roll bars and have a hydraulic system to manage roll, pitch and diving. Yes it is more complicated.

2006 LR3 with 205k miles; owned her since 08. Preventative maintenance is key with these trucks. My list of repairs is a mile long, but I love her. The 4.4L jaguar engine is bulletproof. However everything surrounding it is a plastic nightmare. I've slowly overtime replaced coolant hose T valves with brass fittings. I always carry tools and replacement parts when overlanding. Underrated aspect of the LR3 is the cargo area folds flat! Perfect for sleeping, no need for rooftop tent. Put that money toward Lucky 8 upgrades ;)
