Wonderful! Much appreciated:)
WoW! I love this! I really appreciate how you keep the reference photo there most of the time (would be nice to have it there all the time) as well as having the finished view of each step showing, super helpful, thank you (most videos don’t do this which is frustrating and inhibits learning). I love how you title each step so we now what we are doing and I love your finished painting. I will try this to use a a special birthday card! Many thanks!!
Thanks Catherine! This video contains excerpts from the full-length tutorial in our watercolor school.
Excellent presentation ❤❤ Is there a reference image?
I think that the eyelashes could be done with a fine black waterproof pen for the last details
Thank you! The image is from pixabay.com
Definitely true.
❤❤❤
Thanks!
Love it ❤❤❤ Could you tell me the reference picture please?
Thank you! The reference photo is from pixabay.com
Thank you! ❤
You are welcome!
How long it takes to complete this?
This will take 2 to 3 hours.
Is it need to brush the whole paper with water first before start? How if the paper dry too fast, especially in Malaysia's hot weather?
No, you do not need to do that. I use very little water in this painting.
Wow
I hope that is a good Wow! 🙂
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist yes!!! This is wonderful 🥳❤️
@@artistitch_ Alright! Thank you!
Excellent presentation
Thank you Valerie!
Glad you liked it, thank you!
there is something about your camera I think that makes the colours look muddy/like you are stripping the paper when the paints are wet... so weird cos it looks fine, or course, when it dries
Thanks - cameras are fiddly.
Rebecca, I did that dog eye, and I’m so proud of it. Looks almost exactly like the one you show in this video. My guess is you are happy with your pricing, and it’s working well for you. However, IF you ever decide to provide a monthly subscription, that would be something I’d be interested in. I just do not want to pay for an entire year knowing I might not always have the time to commit year around.
Good news - we DO have a monthly subscription! Go to rebeccarhodessart.com and you will see "Membership." I'm so glad you are happy with the dog's eye!
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist I was showing my friend this video, along with a copy of the eye I painted. She looked at your website and said you do have a monthly subscription! I am holding back right now because summers are so busy, but I’m excited. I don’t know how I missed that because I love your paintings, and I thought you were/are a wonderful teacher!!
I look forward to seeing you in our school! Stay in touch!
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist Thanks Rebecca. I believe my friend is signing up; she’s really excited, too!
@@annewatman677 That's wonderful!
How long (in real time) did this take you! And thank you for showing us the many steps of going over and over the same areas. Sometimes I even forget watercolor is a translucent medium and I end up applying to heavy 😅
Thanks for your message! This took around 6 hours in real time. Yes, you've got it - thin layers are key.
How long did it take you to do and how many layers would you say?
This took about 6 hours. Thanks!
Gorgeous
Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you so much
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome!
Can you share the colours used please
Brenda, colors are listed in the description.
Thank you for this tutorial! ❤
You are welcome! I appreciate your message.
Rebecca, that’s so cool 😊 I always wanted to draw realistic animals but I just can’t find a video that has good instructions. This is perfect. 🎉
I'm glad it's helpful - thank you!
So much good info and tips, thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
Excellent 👍
Thank you!
I get what you’re saying with the greyed short strokes on the dog but I’m doing my nieces dog and she has long hair so it’s not working. I have tried this 8 times!! 😢😢
Feel free to email me with your reference photo.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome
for the gray are you using water downed black?
Yes, this is a thin consistency of what can be called black. I like to create grays and blacks with a mix of French Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Umber or Burnt Sienna.
So realistic that I started petting my ipad screen. 🤣 🦓 I absolutely love this painting!
That's so funny! Thanks!
Its so realistic you need to give him a name!
Great idea! Any suggestions?
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist Oh, dear, me and my big mouth! How about "Sarge" (because he has stripes). Or go with someone else's suggestion - I'm sure some of your followers are better in the naming department than me.....
@@bradfordyorks5055 I like "Sarge!"
Thank you so much
You are welcome!

Thanks so much, I'm glad it was helpful!
I can’t find when you removed-the masking.
I removed the masking fluid after the background was completely dry, before creating the eyes.
So pretty. What colors did you use for the bg please?
Thank you! I used Winsor Blue Green Shade, Scarlet Lake, and Cadmium Yellow.
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtistThank you.
OMG! Beautiful and the best instructions I have ever seen. THANK YOU!❤
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you for this tutorial!
You are so welcome!
Wow! This is wonderful.
Thank you very much!
I saw that you don’t adhere the painting to watercolor paper, but I would like to make it stronger or into a card, what would you use to adhere the page for this?
You could use archival paste to do this.
