They were called egg shapes, we used to surf Donald Takayama,s , great for slow waves but put em up when it gets big!

We used to make boards like this in the mid-seventies. We probably had a bit less tail kick, and maybe a bit more nose kick. But the outline is similar. I used to make my own fins from the rail-cuttings (glass on fins - no boxes) - and I had one just like this - so the tip would flex and stay in the water on the cutbacks. The bottom had some roll - into the vee in the tail. The board was perfect for Velzy-land - you could maneuver inside the barrel when you had to. Single fins can be stalled, and drifted sometimes, while not so much with tri-fins.

The outline reminds me the Christenson Ultra Tracker. It rides the same.
