We had a pine litter box, and only 1 cat used it, sadly. They hated the way it felt on their feet. It was very cheap, but I couldn’t get anyone to use it, and when they did, it looked like they hated it.

Oh my god, thank you very much for your advice!! I'm going to try it as soon as possible. I was done with bentonite sand one year ago, cause it smelled good just at first, and then it became unbearable. I turned to ecological littersand (the one that turns into sawdust) and honestly I really love it, it smells like sawdust and wood. Owning two cats, I have to change it every 21 days, but my issue is always with the remaining dust. I can't wait to try this new solution and experiment with the pellets. I've seen them a few times but I was uncertain whether buying them or not. Maybe this is the push I needed!

In my country, the clay litter is way more cheaper than pine litter, pine litter cost around 3x more expensive, and its hard to fine those kind of wood from any hardware store cause not much people here used it. So, I kind wanna try pine litter, but its gonna an expensive try and I'm scare that my cat wont even use it

what i like doing -use the poop as a fertiliser for ornamental plants -use the water from washing the silica for patches of my lawn - final wash with potassium based soap to be used or , you guessed it ornamental plants -final rinse and soil microbe innoculation makes the silica smell earthy for a little bit and the microbes handle the odour (could also use LAB ) i live in south africa and pine litter isnt as cheap or available hre , if it was id be composting the litter

I use a cement mixing container from Home depot as it is large, no corners and and easy to clean. Plus I had 6 cats at the time. I only have 2 now and still use these pans. I do not sift. I do scoop the poop and then dump once it looks used enough. Cheap enough. Plus it is zero carbon footprint. It also absorbs the smell way better. My mom no longer comes over and says she can smell cat pee.

You’re doing it all wrong too. If you ain’t got a little robot then you’re doing too much work. I don’t sip my litter. My litter box does it for me. I don’t care if it cost almost $800 since I’ve owned it this new one I’ve saved over 300 scoops, I don’t use as much litter anymore because it’s so efficient. I have five cats. I only use it fills up one bag every five days so I use five bags a month and I don’t have to touch it. All I have to do is just open up this litter container, scoop some amount and make sure that the litter is filled up line and my box does the rest

One end of the sensor must be outside the pillow to register the pressure differential. Put a hose on the stub and seal the hose in the pillow with the sensor outside the pillow.

I really like this idea because I don’t like my cat sitting in a laundry detergent and being exposed to that at all. Even if I know it’s just a couple times a day for a very short period of time. But in my country I can’t find those wood pellets. 😢😢😢 I wish it was available here to.

  • @morbidgenius

They smell like pine until they are infused with urine or they take a number 2. I don't like the wood pellets. I find it to be way more labor intensive with the 3 pan system. You have to swap them out a lot more often, and clean the pans more often as well. Wood pellets aren't dust free either, especially when you shake them around. The partially saturated pellets don't sift through, and neither does number 2, so you end up scooping it anyway. They stink in a short amount of time kind of like a hamster cage. The wet dust that sifts through stinks terribly, and if you don't think so, you've probably just grown accustomed to the smell, but your guests will smell it. If your cats have a large urine reservoir, the pellets don't soak it all up fast enough. If you hate clay you can try corn litter, walnut litter, litter crystals etc. There are many options. I have tried most of them. I get 35lbs of up and up clay litter at target for around 12 bucks. It's the best litter I have ever used for the price. I use a heavy duty metal scoop with a long handle, which makes the job easier, and keeps the litter further away from my face. Shaking a litter pan right under your nose isn't good for you. If you are having a problem with your cats flinging litter get some kind of top entry litter box with high walls. A cheap storage container from Wal mart works great. If your cat doesn't like jumping into it you can buy or make a little ramp for it. I hope that this information is useful to someone. Take care.

Question…..I literally watched a video before yours that said not to use the equine one because it wasn’t safe for cats, where the green bag one was safe. (Sorry, I already forgot the name of the green bag pellets) 😂

I've been using pine litter for years but I use it in a regular litter box. I wish I could find a sifting litter box that comes with a lid because my cats kick all of the litter out without a lid and then there's a mess everywhere! Also, wish they would make automatic litter boxes that can use pine pellets I noticed they all tell you to use clay litter. Question about the equine and wood fuel pellets are those still okay for cats to use? I've been using the Feline Pine brand for years because I heard something years ago that the equine and fuel pellets have more pine oil in them and that's why they aren't good to use with cats. Not sure how accurate that information is though any input is appreciated, thanks!

I followed your advice a year ago, our 3 cats were reluctant at first so I introduced wood chips little by little over their clay adding it more every day over a couple of weeks so that they get use to the texture and smell (that was an annoying part). Then I fully switched to wood chips and it works like a charm. Easier, cleaner, cheaper and more environnemental. Thanks Becky ! :)

About a year ago I switched to stainless steel litter box so the sifting isn’t possible with these containers. I also don’t like the idea of using PLASTIC anyway as it doesn’t decompose in landfills which contribute to global warming of the planet. I’ve been using grass seed litter. Any 3:41 suggestions in light of the above?
