Can factory window tint be removed in preparation for aftermarket window tint?
@da_great_mogul Жыл бұрын
No as it isn't a film, it's a tinted coloured glass like sunglasses.
@AladdinsWindowTinting10 ай бұрын
Dealer ship installed FILM can be removed, however factory stained or dyed glass is not removed. If you have privacy glass what you want to prepare for is the decision of how dark you want your final result to be as you will be layering varying shades film over existing tinted glass so your final result will be darker than the shade you choose from the board. Experienced, aftermarket shops (Not The Dealerships) are good at educating and guiding their clients through this process.

Can it be used for windshield sun strips? since the tape will be on the very edge of the windshield?
@Slim08151 Жыл бұрын
+1 I'm interested in the same thing but my guess is no, cuz tint has different properties and texture then vinyl. Vinyl is more stretchy and prone to tearing compared to tint which is more stiff and plasticy and more prone to creasing and bending. At least in my mind, didn't test any of that stuff myself to be fair.

We installed film on all of the sides and back, you're allowed to have tint on the two front doors as well in Arizona (and most states in the US). Here in AZ, clear infrared heat rejecting film across the windshield is extremely popular too!

Hello, here in the EU i noticed cars from the VW group have factory tint on the windshield. It is mostly pinkish reflection, it depends on the wheather outside but it definitely has some tint on it. Did you notice in the USA also ?? What kind of procedure is used in that case ?
@AladdinsWindowTinting Жыл бұрын
Teslas are the most common vehicle I notice nowadays that have IR rejection from the factory; some BMW and Mercedes as well. The windshield will glow an orangy-reddish (slightly pinkish perhaps,) when wet. Some window films, such as 3M Crystalline, will also have have that similar effect when the glass gets wet. In those cases it is usually built into the laminate, between the glass, so film can still be installed on the inside of the glass.

How would somebody use nice list tape for example when wrapping a winglet on a spoiler? I'm trying to do one side of the winglet one color and the other side another color The winglet is about a quarter of an inch thick and of course when you lay the knifeless tape it starts goes all the way around the edge and then finishes right where you started but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make that work
@AladdinsWindowTinting Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the belated response! Did you ever get it sorted out? I think what you're asking is where to put the tag end that you will use to pull the filament. Once the tape reaches your starting point you want to overlap by a few inches to make sure it lines up then you need to turn the tape slightly off into an area that's not going to be wrapped. This can be tricky if you run out of, or just simply have no surface to continue the tape. It is possible to start the filament while the knifeless tape is floating off a surface. Good topic for a future video because it would thought to explain that here.

No need to shrink the bottom? I am having trouble with the shrinking on this window
@AladdinsWindowTinting Жыл бұрын
I did shrink the bottom! That wasn't included in the video. I started by anchoring the film in the middle favoring the bottom enough so the edge of the film is about an inch away from the bottom seal. This allows for a tighter shrink then if you were to try and shrink with the film overlapping the bottom seal. Then the video started with me repositioning with just enough overlap on the bottom for me to make my bottom cut.

@AladdinsWindowTinting Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. If they used a plotter cut pattern, this is probably why. I'll admit, when we use plotter cut patterns there is a slightly bigger than desirable gap at the top of 4 Runner and Tundra back-glasses. This can vary based on the software being used. Typically if its a hand-cut pattern it will be a tighter gap at the top.
