American Heart Association - Midwest Region

American Heart Association - Midwest Region

American Heart Association - Midwest covers the 13 states of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. On this channel you'll find a wide variety of content from across the Midwest.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke.

At the American Heart Association, we want people to experience more of life’s precious moments. To do that, we must be healthy - in heart and mind. It’s why we’ve made better heart and brain health our mission. And together, we’ve made an extraordinary impact. But we are just beginning. Until there’s a world free of heart disease and stroke, we’ll work together to make a healthier, longer life possible for everyone.

My daughter was just told yesterday that her baby that is due Oct 22 has HLHS. They’re faced with the three choices. I’m interested in hearing from people who have had to make this choice. I’d like to know what you chose and why. Also very interested in hearing from people that are living with it.

A common problem amongst so called Long Covid sufferers after geting infected with Covid19. Common among vaccinated and non vaccinated for all of you radicals on both sides. Doctors are truly under informed about this. Also, it is not a womens illness. Its also common among alot of men.

Thank you, there needs to be more awareness of this condition. I would disagree though that there is no treatment. Staying away from sugar, reducing blood pressure, gentle exercise, stopping smoking, an anti-inflammatory diet, relaxation techniques and supplementation with Vit B complex if homocysteine is raised can all help.

Had a brain stem stroke at 74, vertigo , very sick , taken to E.R. Spent 7 days in hospital, all sorts happening,Doctor wanted to perform an operation which sounded very dangerous, my reaction was , hey Doc ,I am feeling somewhat better, I seem to have all my movements and faculties lets wait a day or two . He agreed and within three days I was out of there, being asked my name blah blah every 15 minutes , then every hour ,then every two , eventually I was passed on to the physio dept, where i had to perform rudimentary movements which proved positive . Its been two years since , I have had a mild T.I.A ,since during covid and wasnt treated intime for the clot to be dissipated, because of the overloaded E.R.. I left the hospital that day , got a taxi went home to bed , slept well ,,awoke next day , saw my G.P., Usual meds for cholesterol and blood pressure. Since then ,i have been well ,thank God , occasionally when I get some headache ,I am concerned it could be another stroke i was surfing until recently and these days ,I swim ,train lightly, am very careful with my diet, I still have a couple of beers on hot days, the only ongoing problem is my eyesight, each eye works well but they do not work in synce, therefore making me dizzy and somewhat uneasy. Walking home from my local beach ,I closed one of my eyes , instantly I felt ok Since then I have painted the inside of one lens of my sunglasses black and i function perfectly, better than wearing a patch looking like blackbeard the pirate. In conclusion,I have been very lucky surviving as well as I have , hopefully this will continue , thank God and to all that have had a stroke, just be as positive as possible ,eat clean, dont smoke, Stay strong , God bless. Gone.
